Re: What did you like/didn't like about this years Nats?

for my first nats i would say over all it was run pretty well. i would have liked to go to a dyno, maybe make 2 things for that slot like a lunch cruise and a dyno for a better price to give everyone at least a choice of what to do. big screen on the trailer was cool and going over some tunning with datamaster on the screen would be cool for lots of guys not knowing much. later award time to give the guys who stay up late on the last night of nats some time to sleep before the 20+hr trip home. more of a lunch award time would be cool and only take away 2-3 hours time for people tring to get out early. plus the guys who wanted to leave early for the most part did. racing was cool sat, maybe either get there a 1-2hrs later and have a lunch before hand or get there earlier and have diner earlier. i liked the idea of the back of the hotel all to us that was really cool. guess thats all for now

My first NATS was a blast and am already planning for next year. Hopefully with a Sy and a Ty. I think it was a good time, dyno would have been cool but not for $100. I was hoping to see some lot games and was looking forward to the Renz/Don race on the bikes.Vinny's shirt idea sounds good. I like NOJIMMY's idea of a cruise, espcially to a local show or hangout. Otherwise it was a good time and definately my money's worth. The person I brought with is mitsubishi fan and has an eclispe, after this weekend is putting his car up 4 sale and wants a Ty, and got his wife to go for it. He said it was awsome and is hoping to be there next year as an owner. Huge thanks to the staff, great job!

Nadine's and My Thoughts on Nats 9/Future Nats... In no particular order:

- After registration closes, either Thursday or Friday: We should have a quick "group" meet and greet... Something really simple. Just a "Hi I'm T Jay, phoonTy on SyTy.net, I own a 1992 White/Grey Ty." Next person. I know it doesn't work for everyone, due to late arrivals, last minute shows, etc. but for those that are there early/on time, it would be a good ice breaker. Also it might work as an incentive to get more people there earlier.

- The $5.00 meal/$1.00 drinks was awesome! Sure beats the $13.50/person breakfast buffet. (on a side note, at the Double Tree, To get 2 Bacon Cheese Burgers, Fries, 2 Side Salads and 2 Drinks delivered to your room, it costs $56.00 :dropjaw: )

- More organized parking would be cool. After most people show up, direction on where to park would be nice... I'm basically saying a more organized parking lot would be cool. For photos and truck display. Since we have the parking lot to ourselves, or should have anyway, parking the trucks at an angle for better photo ops would be nice. Maybe after registration closes on Friday night, assign a number to each truck and during the morning show and shine, arrange the trucks in said order... Just an idea though.

- The Double Tree is a great hotel. Maybe for the "group meet and greets" we could use that little wooden patio/deck area thing between the one hallway and pool area? Pull everyone there real quick, meet and greet, go over events schedule, etc. each morning. More chance to get to know everyone.

- Breakfast at Applebee's was okay, but it was really really hard to hear who won what and what raffle/door prize number was drawn. Again, maybe use that patio area at the hotel?

- More of a personal idea.... for those that are there with video cameras, making an attempt before the caravan to the track, send people ahead/stage them en route to get quality video... Although it was pretty cool to see Renz in the STi go flying by at 90+

- Track day was okay. It sort of seemed to drag on forever with all the rental/tow racing. I'm not a racer, so I really don't have any other suggestions... Maybe we could do the parking lot games at the track? Though, the foot race at the track was awesome! I can't wait to get the footage of Klinger taking a digger uploaded. :rotf:

That's all for now. We had other ideas, but getting back into the swing of things at work, etc. has sapped my brain. If I think of anything, I'll post it up.

Ive already been pushing for this exact thing myself. I can definately see it becoming a reality.

I agree, this was definately the way to go. It made friday a little more relaxing, although there was no massive caravan to AB, it was still better IMO.

- More organized parking would be cool. After most people show up, direction on where to park would be nice... I'm basically saying a more organized parking lot would be cool. I think "back in the day" there was a little more organized parking, mainly because there were more trucks. If all goes well for the 10th anniversary, organized parking will need to come into effect again.

I dont really see the parking lot being any worse or better than the patio, but it might be something to look into. The only reason I say that is because 99% of the people are already in the lot, in order to get everyone to move, then gather, then make announcement, then go back to the lot takes time. Just getting everyone to gather in the lot might be hard enough

- Breakfast at Applebee's was okay, but it was really really hard to hear who won what and what raffle/door prize number was drawn. Again, maybe use that patio area at the hotel?
Ive been thinking about this for a number of years actually. It seems that many people bail out early Sunday morning and miss the whole awards/trophy part of the event. I do enjoy the Applebees breakfast for sure and wouldnt want that to go away, but I think perhaps having the Awards given out Saturday night and doing the Raffles/Door Prizes on Sunday morning might work a little better. And of course, getting people with loud voices ::cough:: Renz ::cough:: might solve the hard to hear the numbers being called issue ;)

- More of a personal idea.... for those that are there with video cameras, making an attempt before the caravan to the track, send people ahead/stage them en route to get quality video... Although it was pretty cool to see Renz in the STi go flying by at 90+
To expand on that idea, it would probably work even better if there was a evening cruise setup instead of trying to capture footage on the way to an actual event. This would allow for easier setup as well as giving the option for better scenery than I-435

- Track day was okay. It sort of seemed to drag on forever with all the rental/tow racing. I'm not a racer, so I really don't have any other suggestions... Hotel was great.... perfect private rear parking.. very nice...

I would like a cruze to Hooters or somthing where we totaly invade a parking lot and take over... That would be alot of fun..

More of the Ice breakers ideas.. shirts ect...
More of the Tech from experienced guys.. we all need ideas with tunes/combos/ideas.
Games.. like creeper races or tire changes.. fan belt toss ect.. How many can fit in a Typhoon ect..My wife's awsome at planning stuff like that...

The prizes were awsome... Loved the piston trophys... I've got extra pistons here if you want me to make some more like you had... captin morgan let me know...

We'd have had alot more time to talk if we were not watching our two boys ..... Maby the grandparents can help next year...

Great job everyone in the planning dptmt and the people who attended..
We had a awsome time... can't wait till next year!

Maybe someone has a megaphone or something for next year. I has no idea the judging was going on. I missed out on the sound system award.

-I think the attendance would have been even higher, if the rain forecast had been favorable for Sat.
(Many of us late-adders were watching weather, debating on cost/rain out conditions. Sorry.)

Too bad......cuz KC has never been rained out......We have always had some kind of weather to contend with and I believe that if you want to come to the event the weather will not stop you.
