Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

As much as it pains me to post it, I put it up on axle stands for the first time since I've owned it... :( ...

Nice new steering wheel. I really don't like aftermarket wheels but that looks like it fits perfect.

Where did you get it and if you dont mind me asking how much?

Yea i know i was going to get a typhoon swap but i thought this made it look newer and more origninal. I ordered it from summit racing, and then i bought the installation kit and gmc horn button from summit

got the heads off thinkin the gaskets were blown and ofcourse there not.:squint: just tryin to figure out what im going to do with the heads and what combo.

Is that a stock bottom end? What are your overall plans / goals?

To me the stock motors are great if you just want to leave them stock and do basic mods. Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, exhaust, intake and maybe a tune. Other than that once you start modding a stock motor any more I think it's just a matter of time before you will be getting ready to rebuild the motor and transmission.

Good luck with it, looks like a nice truck.

Thats not to bad of a price. So roughly $200 shipped for everything? I think I might buy one of those some day for my Ty.

Thanks for the info,

Nick

I don't think it is a stock block.. looks like a balance shaft motor, could be a jasper..

any chance the electric water pump has been tested and known good?

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

I actually drove my Syclone today... er well last night, and will drive it again today. After a year and a half without being able to drive it, I was so happy to get behind the wheel again. Had to replace the distributor and while it was in the shop, I got them to throw in the ZQ8 steering box that had been sitting in my closet for the past 3 years. Now I just need an alignment and she'll be all good. :D

I was told it was stock when I bought it but it could have been a replacement motor or something when it was new/ who knows. I just want a good set of heads with out refinanceing the house:lol: I think im goin the vortec route with the cam and inj and then thats that. then maybe be cosmetic after its running the way i want it too.

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

put the je pistons in the block with eagle rods, all of them then. Then tried to rotate the motor all the way around nope some bolts are hitting bottom of cylinders walls and oil pan surface. So i guess tomorrow is tear it back down and clearance all that is needed. fun fun.

Went to the dyno today. Good safe tune. 366whp and 360wtq. Good safe tune. Still a few bugs but it is coming along.

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Came back last night from training in California and had my turbo blanket waiting on me! Installed it this morning and got some exhaust wrap for the downpipe.
