Fuel lines going into tank

I took my fuel tank off today so I can put in my Walbro. I saw the hoses going to the tank and they looked crappy. I decided I wanted to replace them. Instead of just loosening the fittings to the tank I just cut the hose and the tank then was free. I looked a little closer and saw that the hose coming from the metal fuel line is sort of clamped on permanently. How am I going to replace these hoses to the tank? Should I just cut the hose off the metal line and use hose clamps to hold them on. Should I just get a metal tube and hose clamp the two ends I cut together? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. If this is hard to understand I can post up some pics. Let me know thanks.

You Lunk head!!!! Those are your fuel lines, they are pressurized all the time, atleast one is. :rotf: I feel for you brother. Youre probably going to have to track some down ehre or at a dealer, maybe a junkyard. Good luck.

they sell "fix it" kits at autozone and all parts stores that have hose and the pressed on fitting..

Re: Fuel lines going into tank

Yeah I went everywhere. All the parts stores and GM discontinued that fuel line. Looks like Im going to have to get all braided stainless lines from Jegs or summit.

You can just get braided from the tank to the place by the t-case where the rubber lines meet the fittings. They make an adapter from AN to Saginaw that will mate up.

Yeah pics would be cool. What size fittings did you order if you remember?

Re: Fuel lines going into tank

I'm looking through the JEGS catalog at some hose and fittings. How do I know what sizes to order? There are sizes like -04AN through -10AN ?

Re: Fuel lines going into tank

AN sizing counts 16ths.

04 is 4/16ths, or 1/4"
06 is 6/16ths, or 3/8"
08 is 8/16ths, or 1/2"

and so on.

If I can get a braided kit that I can go from the fuel filter to the tank and then another one that connects further under the truck. It would be nice to get something that uses the existing connections

Re: Fuel lines going into tank

Here guys tell me what you think. I have fuel rated hose with fuel line clamps on some brass barbed bullets. I even lengthened the line so I can drop the tank easier. A guy at the NAPA machine shop said this will work. I can get the fuel line clamps super tight. I think it should hold up real well. Comments and advice are appreciated.

Re: Fuel lines going into tank

If you're using rubber fuel line, make sure the fuel hose and fuel clamps are FUEL INJECTION compatible. Common "fuel hose" is for carburetors (7-10 PSI) and NOT suitable for the high pressure of fuel injection!! Warnings are posted everywhere you buy fuel hose about this (at least around here).
