Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Installed the Sportmachines ICE wires, fit nicely. Picked up an 80e to get Built sometime this winter. Was lucky enough to find a Aluminum Sportmachines 80e Driveshaft, just need to gather the rest of the Conversion parts. Scored a set of New Eagle rods off a member for the new engine build. Installed a BBK 58mm Throttle body bein that my Stocker has excessive shaft play and you could wiggle the linkage a lot. Will be Polished this winter.

Finally the time has come to get my Spare Block Built to handle the Power I've been throwing at it recently. Dropped it off last Friday and will be posting pics of the progress. Glad I found a shop I can trust and another Ty member just recently had his engine built there and runs great.

Recieved the Hard to find Program 4 bolt Splayed Main caps and Stud/Bolt kit. Basically everything I need besides Gaskets,Flexplate,Balancer. The shop is providing the Pistons once the Block is gone through and ready to Bore.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

what makes the program caps so hard to find? Only ask since I may be pulling the engine at some point soon for a rebuild as well.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

I called one of their dealers and they said they are out of business (supposively). On the website I bought them from said 3 kits remaining. Also, RPM said its hard to get a hold of Program.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

I picked up those Caps, I appreciate the info. Are you sticking with the same turbo on the new build or are you going bigger? I'm trying to decide on a turbo for my build and I remember asking about the lag on the 72 before but I can't remember how you said it was on the street. Also, what torque converter are you going with for the 80E?

I'm Goin to use the same Turbo. It Spools up great on the street similar to the 63mm I had. Will spool up better with the new motor since I'm upping the Compression. I'll probly chose the same Stall converter size 3200 for the 80e from Circle D multidisk

Bought a set of 1-5/8" Stainless Headers off a memeber made by Keith Mease couple years ago. They are Ceramic coated and I took some Steel wool to clean them up. Next is Polishing them. Excellent quality!

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Stopped by the Engine shop today to check out my engine build. They got the 4 Bolt main caps installed and Line Bored/Honed which turned out great. He even engraved the specs on the Top cap. Since I ordered a SBC Pro-gram Cap kit they cut the ears off the Top cap and used it without me even telling them. Pretty cool of them! Next up is figuring out Bore size and ordering pistons. Comin along nicely!

Recieved my B&M SFI Flexplate, ARP flexplate bolts, and ARP Harmonic Balancer bolt from RPM. Next is ordering a Balancer. My Block is getting Partial filled soon.

That's the one that I have too, I did not see any benefit of paying extra for the ATI.

Block should be filled first. Bottom of the water jackets at the water pump holes. Then machined. The curing of the fill can distort the block. Then your in trouble..

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Hey Frank, my Builder did mention the Block could distort with the Fill that's why I don't wana fill it after I get the Cylinders bored. Being that the 4 Bolt mains have been completed is it too late to Fill now? It was a last minute decision, and my Builder didn't mention any issues knowing the Main caps were done already when I called couple days ago.
