Ty 1066 rebuild getting closer to finished...

Well she is finally almost back on the road again! Although I thought I was getting close 3 months ago, but I really think I'm within a week or two from starting it. Had some free time finally last week to get a lot of little things finalized so I figured I'd share with everyone. It's been a timely and very costly build but I am trying to a build a daily driver, not another toy. So only time will tell on that aspect but its been fun, sometimes... and a lot of headaches. I come from the Euro scene and must say that even the cramped engine bays of the Euro's are easier to work on.
Now I must say that whomever worked on Ty 1066 in the past did a hack job on everything! For a slightly modded truck it looked clean, but everything I took apart was wrong, broken or just flat out half assed. I just hope who ever rebuilt the tranny did decent job, again time will tell.
The truck had code59 software, meth injection, 3" exhaust, Upgraded water to air system with stock cooler, Comp Cams, battery relocation to the trunk, C4/C5 corvette front brakes, intake and MSD on a fresh rebuilt engine and tranny w/ 3200 stall,
What I added was the following
GT3076R turbo
Eagle Rods
JE Pistons
New replacement oem crankshaft
SFI flex plate
SFI harmonic balancer
Blue printed and balanced bottom end w/ new gaskets and bearings ect...
New engine mounts
Redid the stock heads with 2.02/1.94 oversize valves and 5 angle valve job with all new hardware and ARP studs
Comp cam springs
Ac delete with non ac heater box
New 3" down pipe with wideband o2 and egt
Tial 38mm wastegate,
Tial 50mm BOV
TurboSmart Eboost 2 boost controller
Thermal wrapped down pipe, water to air box
Ceramic coated exhaust manifolds, wastegate dump and down pipe
All new sensors
All new hoses
ALL NEW HARDWARE!!! I reused less than 20 nuts and bolts that were on the truck
Rewired the entire engine bay including all the hot spots and all aftermarket interior stuff
Relocated all pumps, MSD and coolers
ABS Delete
New steering gear box
All new front suspension with bushings and all
Bilstein Shock F/R
All fluids replaced with AMSOIL products
Omari True color Boost and EGT gauges
Innovative Motorsports Wideband o2
MOMO alcantara steering wheel
MOMO leather shift knob
MOMO pedals
COBRA CF Sezuka race seat
Sabelt 3" Camlock harness
Panasonic Head unit to go with the aftermarket speakers already in it
2 10" kicker subs w/ alpine amp
I stripped all the paint from the firewall forward and repainted everything including the suspension

I know I am missing several things but I can't remember right now. Oh well, anyways really looking forward to getting her started again so I can have the rear end fixed from the 3rd day I drove it I was rear ended. Very minor but still needs to be fixed. An alignment and tuning and she should hopefully be ready to rock for the next few years, really need about 4 good years of service out of her! Let me know what you guys think. The link below has a ton of pics, naturally I lost a lot of the tear down pics so there isn't a before and after shot but it doesn't even resemble the truck I started with.

Nice build!
Question: Foglights? What's the deal-io with those?

Thanks, oh ya the lights. Well, put projector headlights in with phillips 6000K bixenon lights behind them. The fogs are Hella Micro De driving/fog lights. They are projectors again with phillips 6000K hids behind them. I do a lot of mountain driving in the winter so those are my solution to 92 American lighting technology. Love my chevy's, but the lights suck!

did you obtain this truck through a guy named darren last summer ? is the truck white ? if it's the truck i'm thinking of you had started doing a tune and decided to purchase the truck from him ?

That sounds familiar, I honestly don't remember the guy who I bought it from. but yes last summer from Aurora, he also had a grand national in the garage that looked pretty sweet. The truck is white on white. He had started tuning it and it blew up in 50 miles lol, that one was my fault cause I knew it was screwed up but the narrow band gauge was showing ok readings... who ever rebuilt it but the rear main seal in backwards and pinched, messed up whatever tune the truck was running on for ten years prior and put grade 3 bolts where grade 8 should be and so on and so forth, absolutely nothing was done right. So in the long run I was actually happy it blew up when it did because I'm glad I was able to redo everything. I was dumbfounded the entire time I was taking the thing apart as to how someone could put such a rare and cool collectable vehicle back together in such a half assed manor.

Re: Ty 1066 rebuild getting closer to finished...

Interesting set up. I have never seen anyone weld a piece to the turbo to able to use the stockish IC. I assume that is what you are going for? I am very curious to see how your fog lights turn out behind the bumper cover. What kind of performance are you looking for out of all that?

Oh my, 3 engines?! oh well this one was done right this time! Look forward to meeting all you guys soon, going to hopefully be running in 2 weeks, need one more good weekend.

I haven't put power to anything yet so we will see how the fogs work, they fit perfectly behind the bumper though!

Ya, I'm hoping with the aftermarket water to air coolers that the stock ic will be sufficient, I honestly don't think it will be but again this is my first Ty so I don't know for sure, couple buddies think it should be fine. I just don't have money to redo the radiator and put an air to air on it now. I am going to need to tow my dirt bikes with the truck this summer too so between towing and the fact that I would like to try and road caorse track it a bit too is why I think I'm going to have to put an air to air on it.

Truckless. For now.
Re: Ty 1066 rebuild getting closer to finished...

In that whole list of mods, I don't see anything transmission related... and you are planning to use the truck to tow with? Curious.

Re: Ty 1066 rebuild getting closer to finished...

The tranny was rebuilt at 88K, not sure how it was rebuilt, have a generic receipt that came with the truck from someone in California. I'm only towing a dirt bike or two so nothing really heavy. But, I think the power of the turbo is going to put more strain on the tranny than the dirt bikes. If it grenades then either a 4l80E or a manual conversion will be in its future

You should probably try to find some of the factory metal sparkplug boot heatshields that install with the exhaust manifolds. I'm not sure how your plug wires will last without them.
