Turbo question?

I might be buying this turbo and was wondering if anyone knows if it will fit the truck without any mods being done? I just want it to bolt into my stock turbo spot. IT is a ATR turbo, also will it give the truck any more HP than the stocker? Please let me know thanks.

Re: Turbo question?

That is NOT an ATR turbo. that is a 20G mitsubishi. it will not spool very well at all on a truck without a 2800rpm converter.

Re: Turbo question?

The PE52 turbo is allot larger then the first one you posted about and will require that downpipe that's pictured with it above and will be horrible with your stock torque converter as well. Why not contact jwaller who posted above about what he could offer you to work with your stock motor/converter and for how much $$?

I already contacted him, I am just exploring options at the moment. Thats all trying to get some info. As of now I do plan on ripping out the stocker and sending it to him to be rebuilt. I am just trying different plans thats all. Thanks for the info. Eddie

Re: Turbo question?

Their are only a few stock turbo bolt in options Mitsubishi 20g's, Waller Hybrid, and their are some Garretts (such as the one Campbell and RPM sell). With the 20g's to use the stock converter, you need a reasonably sized exhaust housing. You would want a 8cm2(stock), 10cm2 or 12cm2 (rare). The common 20G 14cm2 is lagy.

Most of the other option end up over $1500 with the down pipe, plus most of them really need larger torque converter, 3 bars map sensor, chip and bigger injectors, which also leads to need for a stronger transmission...

Re: Turbo question?

Ok well, I am going to send my stocker out to Waller for rebuild once I get it out of the truck. I have a 3inch DP I just bought off ebay that I also have the 3in high flow cat coming for it with it. The guy I bought it from said it will bolt on right behind the stock wastergate, so I am ok in that department I believe. So I think I will just stick with the stock trubo setup for now, just to get her back on the road. Here is the link to the DP and Cat let me know what you guys think of this also.

Re: Turbo question?

Its looks like an incomplete PTE style 3" downpipe to me. Without adapters and modification their is no way this will fit the stock turbo.

Correct, the upper portion that connects to the exhaust housing on the turbo is missing. It's *kinda* important since the puck is integral to that piece for the internal wastegate... That's why it sold for so cheap. I paid $750 for my setup and that didn't include the test pipe. On the positive side, you now have everything after that section so all you need to fab up is the first 15 or so inches of it.

Not according to those pictures... there's nothing to bolt the turbo up to.

It looks like the bottom half of a PTE downpipe setup. The thing on top looks like a catcon flange.

Re: Turbo question?

The piping attach to the PTE52 turbo in your second pic on post #6 is what your missing from that downpipe from the ebay link... but it's for a PTE turbo and external wastegate it looks like so even if you had that piece also it wouldn't bolt up to your stock turbo

Re: Turbo question?

I am a bit confused, you just bought the truck last week and your throwing bolt on parts at it like there is no tomorrow?

I suspect you are going to flusterate yourself and everybody on this list and end up with a broken truck that you will then be selling as broken, or part out.

Take a few steps back and get your truck running correctly first.
