Trans Mount

Whats the story with the OE mount on the SYCLONE and TYPHOON here. I ended up doing another No brainer and ordered this "gm style" trans mount. I thought it was going to need upgrading. Since I feel this horrid vibration I thought it might mend the problem. Here I ended up cranking the 1 side down with impact and it snaped right off inside the trans casing . Gotta love it what that happens. To add, the "gm style" mount is no where close to correct. PAS must have updated the trans crossmember them self or something. its not GM style. I had no Idea, I thumbed through a summit/jegs book and ordered accordingly. Is there even an aftermarket or replacment part offered for the mount.

Re: Trans Mount

The transmission mount is a stock, they all use it, T-Series (4WD and AWD) transmission mount. PAS used the standard 4WD transmission mount that all automatic 4X4 use.

Snapping bolts off is a sign of being in a hurry. You can R&R the T-case, and remove the T-case adapter to extract the broken bolt, or replace the adapter if you can't get the bolt out, or make a mess of it.

Let us know if this fixes your vibration problem. I've got vibrations in my truck, and dad's hotrod has the polys also with the vibrations. We may need to go back to standard.

Re: Trans Mount

You probably bought Energy Suspension P/N 3.1108. A lot of catalogs list this as being a "Universal" trans mount that'll fit every GM vehicle within a year range, but it doesn't fit 4WD\AWD. You need P/N 3.1129. It's MUCH wider. I think RPM sells it if you want to support a site sponsor.

The mount you bought would be correct for a Sonoma GT so you might find somebody on here that can still use it.

As far as reducing vibration- that's not my experience with poly trans mounts generally speaking.

Re: Trans Mount

Shaking is at 40-60. I thought it was a mount. Am told its a prop shaft. No signs of wear or anything on that. Than I think it could be some type of bracing like on the driver side but im not sure. I ordred the wrong mount and its a typical GM/JEEP part thats compatable with alot of stuff. Not a syclone. I only feel my VIBRATION during acceleration like mention around 35-40-60 it comes on strong. No way to see whats actually going on I can hear it and feel it. just can not see the problem. I have not been able to isolate the vibration to a BAD T-CASE? Or a Brace shot or a mount. I dont know what else would rattle and vibrate.

Under exceleration, especially under boost. When coasting or deceleration we don't feel it.

Yeah mine sounds like the same ordeal. Occurs approx. around 2500rpm and when boost is starting to spool for acceleration at highway speeds.

Re: Trans Mount

please share with us if you figure it out. I have not got a chance to get to that point of mine. I did get the correct mount. Not installed

Re: Trans Mount

Anyone ever get any resolution on this? I have got some vibration at the 2200-2500 rpm range at about 70 mph it is noticeable.

I am digging through the threads trying to see what the deal is. The good news is that I discovered I have a HD prop shaft on my truck...I think. It doesn't look like any of the ones I have seen in other people's photos and has a grease zerk on the body and appears to expand a few inches?

Code what?
Check your driveshaft u joints, also check the transfer case bolts to the transmission. I've seen people leave the top one loose and cause a vibration

Re: Trans Mount

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Today I did a diagnostic drive and I have decided the vibration is in the drive train and not the suspension. Regardless of speed I get a vibration between 2200 and 2500 rpms. I am also having trouble dialing the timing in. It just doesn't feel good so I'm gonna pull the distributor and start from square one. Though that is another issue.

Re: Trans Mount

My truck is in pieces again so I can't yet drive it, but I might have fixed my exceleration vibration. It was since I put setback plates on that I noticed it. Couple of weeks ago while under it, I saw that the front edge of the setback plates were 5/8" longer in the front than the rest of the block (lowering & angle wedge blocks). The diff & driveline were pointing up just a bit. Yanked it all apart and shortened the setback plates to match the blocks. That rocked the diff & driveline back down to the normal 1 - 2* downward. Hope it fixes it.
