The problem will be anyone wanting to TNT will be spending most of the time in line and never get to be with the SyTy crowd. How about inviting some local group such as the GN guys to join us for the track day. There is always a group wanting some track time.

Racing and seeing others run down the track is a big part for me. If it is a private rental or not, my concern is waiting in line 2hrs for 1 run. I don't mind other cars there, just not 500 other cars all trying to run.

Any chance to share rental cost with another local car club? Invite any locals to lower cost and keep numbers down or do they charge by the # of cars?

I apologize that we are having this discussion, but you have to understand the situation the track has put us in. They are limiting the number of cars/trucks to 40 and 60 spectators and $4 per additional spectator. I know there are a few people that are die hard track guys, and we want to please everyone! We had 25 trucks last year. We can check and see if there is some interest in the locals, but most of them wouldn't like to pay the price we would have to pay.

Re: Track Question....ALL please vote.

Just trying to come up with a solution. I know I went to indy track one day with todd in my ty and waited in the heat all day long, got 1 run in. That was 6 yrs ago or so, never went back to race.

I would hate to drive to homecoming go to track and spend all day to repeat this.

On the flip side I understand the wanting to keep cost down. although it would be worth the $100 to me, to most it probably won't be. Adding in some extra cars to the mix would I would thing spread out the cost among a slightly larger crowd without being a full out test and tune crowd.

We can go to bowling green, Jeremy's buddy rented it out for the day for just the 3 cars today and he is down there racing right now. What a life. (just kidding by the way)

Did my post get yanked for a reason? I think if we have to pay high reg. fees for homecoming to cover the track we shouldnt have to pay extra at the track to get our guests in. What if it rains out our track time, its not like most of us will make a return trip to get the track time in.

Nope don't know what happened to your post, I haven't deleted anything. The paying extra for the guest is the tracks policy, not ours. After the first 60 people, Milan wants to charge an addition $4 per additional spectator. Like I said, these are not our rules, and there is only so much money to go around.

I don't know the rain policy, and it won't rain

Track is a requirement for me. Or at least for me bringing the truck.

Re: Track Question....ALL please vote.

I setup the track stuff last year and it was a breeze.
This year is a different story.

Cost is only part of the factors here availability is the big issue.
I submitted my request for the track in December.

Here is an email I got from the Vice President late February.

Hello,

There has been a substantial change made to track rentals so please read carefully.

At this time we are still not booking any rentals for the 2008 season.
Bookings should begin in late February or early March.
Saturday’s this season are very limited and I already have more request than I do Saturday’s.
If you are planning on doing a rental this year and have not sent me your dates of interest yet please do so.
If you have sent me your dates this year and need to change them or cancel your request please email me back as soon as possible.

Thank you,

...perhaps this is a "No-No", but would GM help offset the price increase?
It might be a Win-Win for them (ie promotional wise) ...

Ultimately I am not going be discourage by a $120 racing fee, but I did vote for $40 Test and Tune. I would prefer not pay that since I have a long distance drive and I am probably not going to push my truck hard assuming my Sy is even up and running.

Re: Track Question....ALL please vote.

i was surprised the number of trucks that didnt run at the track last year.

how many runs do you get on a normal TNT night at Milan? about how many racers show up at a TNT there?

Re: Track Question....ALL please vote.

I want to run at the track and don't mind paying the money. Besides, I planned on blowing my engine there this year:).

Test and tune at Milan sucks. The only way you can get any passes in is if you are there at 4pm sharp. If you hot lap it, you can make a few passes until 5-5:30pm. After that, the staging lanes are a parking lot and it turns into a car show. All of this is true as long as a slick car doesn't explode a trans or rear end on the track.....Which happens quite often. Also, on Fridays with TNT you are entered into a King of the Street car race series which makes it busier. Times trials are 4-7pm and racing starts at 7:30 pm which seriously limits anymore runs for the TNT crowd.

Maybe I can just have some co-workers block off a stretch in the city and we can run there......

HAHAHA. I am sure it wouldn't be a problem! With everything else going on, in Detroit I am sure no one would care.

Not to try to say how to run your event as I think you have and will do a great job regardless. Just a thought to ponder.

I know of atleast 1 person not going this year just due to racing setup, lack of anything other than time runs.

Well, nothing is in stone yet. I just want to see what everyones thoughts are, and I knew that there would be some people who are die hard racers, and we want to please everyone.

In all honesty most people won't romp on their trucks when they are far away from home, that is what we found last year. Like I said nothing has been set in stone, I know I wanted to see your TTv8 and Chad's TTv8 and Badnewz run this year!
