Working out of the house = less overhead = more profit in my pocket.
I also use it as its intended purpose and park/work on vehicles in it too, unlike a large majority who just stuff piles of shit in it that they will never touch or use.

There is a chance I could produce a few.
I should go ahead and say it... this tonneau isnt all my work. It's actually a checkmate tonneau that I bought used, took apart and doing up the layer of CF on top...
but... the construction of the checkmate is absolutely 100% easy to reproduce and the end result would be the exact same quality or product (if not better and lighter) if I make them.

Yup, it is. Totally functional. It can be locking if you wanted to buy the locking mechanisms from Checkmate (Read my post above)
It's 1" thick since thats how Checkmate makes them. No idea on weight, but its easily tossed around. I'll weigh it after im done though. It doesnt have the alum rails, hinges, or struts attached at the moment either...

Ive been fixing/making boards since I was 10... Im almost 32 now.
It's an art, definitely not something that you just pick up and start doing and your a pro at it. Lots of trial and error and lots of wasted money down the drain. I am pretty much the #1 repair shop in central FL though because of it. And then theres all the little side CF projects Ive been doing as well. Im about to toss out quite a few pieces of prototype CF cladding pieces.
It's a messy, filthy, and hazardous to your health job. How I dont have cancer or some sort of side effect from being exposed to fiberglass for the past 21 years is beyond me.
Anyhow... progress report on the tonneau:
I blocked it out to get ready for clear and noticed that the gel coat had a sorta very light uneven milky finish in it and then what looks like a pull in the cloth about 5in long probably from my squeegee when I was laying down the resin. The gel coat resin I used was a tad bit old and it was a cool night (i should know better) so I think that is what caused the milky look.
Wasnt real happy with either problems and both of them I cant live with if I put it on my truck. So... I get to sand it all down and go for round 2 which wont be until after Shindig. Ug.
Remember the mention of trail and error and wasted money? Here is a prime example. :tup:

Sorta. I actually mounted the cover today...never did go back and strip down what I didnt like and redo it. I'll probably just end up throwing some clear on it and call it a day. You can barely see the weave in it...no idea what went wrong. I did glass it somewhat below the temp I really should have been using resin at...so thats probably what caused the light hazed look to it.
When I eventually go to repaint the truck, I'll come back and visit it again....OR... make my own version. For now, I just want to get it race ready.
