To say I've been in it for the long haul would be an understatement. I came to the very first nats many years ago as a fellow enthusiast with my red Syclone, bullet hole and all. I left with many great memories and knowing I had met many great people and life long friends. I've been around to witness Ivan the terrible ripping several people off and the many different soap operas that have occurred over time.
I believe this year was my forth nationals and most likely my last for no reason other than the division between a club who at times seems to loose sight of what the club is all about. The advancement of syclones and typhoons in technology and knowledge of improving the different performance aspects of these vehicles.
For those of you who don't know me my name is Jared and I am from Colorado and part of the Bully crew. I haved witnessed and participated in a project that at one point never seemed as though it would materialize at certain steps of the process. You could not imagine our enthusiam to finally be able to be a part of history in building a truck with the attention to detail and innovative design as what you've seen in the Bully Syclone. Before anyone has any misconceptions I will say that my part in the build is minimal and all credit goes to the owner John Frey. As you all probably know our truck that was here to compete in the Pro class and was not completely up to par in regards to tuning. Unfortunately that is the nature of the beast when it comes to not enough time and money and all having lives outside of our hobbies. We were really hoping to put on a better show for those in attendance and for that I apologize. We are all very impressed with the performance of Robert's truck and had only hoped to help make the event competitive by entering another pro truck. Regardless of the outcome it was fun to finally make some passes in a truck that had not been able to due to safety regulations put in place by the NHRA and the truck being primarily built to street race. Needless to say those NHRA regulations have been satisfied and we will continue to improve the driveablity of the truck to enhance its performance or lack thereof depending on how you look at it
I would like to thank those who were supportive in our efforts and lended a hand when willing and able. I had only hoped everyone could have been that supportive of our efforts, but like years of past there still seems to be a core group of members that can't set aside there ego's and animousity for the better of the club. Regardless of what some people may think I am probably the most unbias opinion available here on the forum considering I have not read any of threads in regards to the nationals or that were posted prior to anyone attending the nationals. I would appreciate it if everyone could let the drama die and simply leave well enough alone in regards to that. Robert's truck was very impressive in its consistency and performance and my hat goes off to him. My main goal in posting was to simply find out if I am the only longtime enthusiast who feels this way about the nationals. I hope that my thread is not hijacked by trash and cheap shots, but it may answer my question if so.
If you have made it this far I commend you and thank you for your time!
