Then came
Ryan Falconer, an engineer who had worked on Chevrolet V8s for road racing for many years. He started building engines in 1963 for the Lola GT cars that did
Le Mans that year. He saw the potential for building a Turbocharged V6 engine that would be installed on a Lola T600 chassis. But Lola did not accept so he went to
Ted Field, who accepted and ran it for the 1982
Daytona Finale. The car had a V6 3,4L twin turbo engine and was an absolute rocket, but retired from the race. Subsequently,
IMSA banned twin turbo cars. The switch to a single turbo engine could be easily done, but
Interscope suddenly quit racing at the beginning of 1983. Falconer's motor was a 3,4L single turbo V6 with cast iron block and aluminium cylinder heads. The single
Warner Ishi turbocharger unit produced 700hp at 8500rpm and Ryan converted the Porsche injection to go on it.
