Syclone Stock Horsepower to the wheels?? 1/4 mile times? STi dispute

its not that hard of a car to drive. My first 1/8th was an 8.729 and that was with missing 3rd gear. Dunno how its hard to beat that if you don't miss any gears and have a clue of how to launch the car.

My car is completely stock, and full weight. I didn't change tire pressure...the only thing i did was throw a bunch of ice into the intercoolr sprayer and misted the intercooler a lot before the runs to try and help cool it down - who knows if that really helped?

A lot of people just don't shift very fast...and also shift points make a world of difference in this car. It makes its highest torque at 4000rpms, but redlines at 7200. If i shift at redline, i usually pick up the next gear at about 5200-5500 rpms or so - not taking full advantage of the power curve. My best run i shifted around 6500-6800 rpms so that i'd get the next gear at closer to 4k rpms.

Also, the cars gears are so damn short - its not setup to be a 1/4 mile car at all. The car could easily be a mid-high 12 second car with different gearing.

The time was done @ the last Pomona street legal drags & I have people that has seen it run the time along w/a timeslip. The backup run was 12.31 @107.8
Still trying to get into the 11's. I been around just have been working. It's nice to get back to talking to you guys.
But now I'm looking forward to start working on the Sy again.
I just need to 60 ft better & I believe I might be able to run 11's. All on pump gas as usual.Best time @ LACR is 12.50 @ 105.
What do you guys think... is it time to get rid of the stock torque converter?
Let me know what you think.

8.408 was my 1/8th on my best 1/4 run.

Here is everything:

18 runs in two hours. That's a lot. I'd be afraid of my SY falling apart. I don't even like to boost launch two times in a week. :rotf:

We were all taking side bets to when his clutch was going to give out while he was hot lapping his car :D j/k, but I was thinking that I would need AAA for my Sy if I tried that.

Clutches are considered normal items, so usually they aren't warranteed unless they can be proven to be defective.

it was more than 18 runs actually...heh. I just managed to lose some slips, plus a couple didn't print. I think it was 22

warranty is still in tact.

I am an 05' STi Owner, and I have a 93' Typhoon also. I will agree with everything that he has said. This is pretty much dead on. The car is great to drive very easy. The thing that sucks at the track is you have to shift into 5th gear at the top of the track. I kept it in 4th once, and by the top of the track you just about hit the fuel cut. My car is bone stock other then the HKS BOV, and i went 13.4@100.21 with a 1.8 60' my 1/8 was 8.5 oh and that was launching usually between 5000 and 5500

Here is a link to a quick clip of one of the runs. I'll try and get slips up too

Yup, I was glad that "syty master JB Wan Kenobi's" house was within the range of my coverage in case I put connecting rods through the oil pan... My home track is only 25 miles away, you can never be too close to home when racing a syty  .
