If you want a good dyno result off of one of these stock trucks, try and see if someone (Jimmy's bound to have this pic.) has the pic of Performin Normans bone stock Sy putting down almost 300hp and over 400lb's.
You cant compare a 14 year old truck with a brand new car. There is no way in hell to do it. 14 years is alot of time for someone to come up with something better. I think it would be a good race between a WRX and not a STi.

I had a friend with a stock WRX, he ran a 14.2 at his best when it was bone stock. But again with those, I'm sure there are people that have said they've ran a 13.8 or so with them. Just like there are people that have said they've hit 12's in a STi. So I do think that would be a closer race for our trucks. But like I said. 14 years is alot of time.

:rotf: Does it remind you of a cross between a honda or acura with a renault(I think)? or sabb? The 04/05 front end was way nicer looking.
BTW is it just me or does anyone else see old people, especially old ladies driving WRX's all the time? And I know they are not driving the regualr impreza models.

i don't know. don't care either. I don't read up on them at all, nor follow the forums for them. I don't even know the best route to go to mod them. Its just a daily driver for me that i beat from time to time.blk00z28 said:

I had the same estimation, but the other issue is that the Evo's weren't/aren't flexible on the price, whereas the Subies were, and you could get an extended warranty for about the same money you just saved. I did a lot of research, and the Sti was the better car for me, hands down. Better durability, better brand, better quality. Performance - similar to the Evo, impressive & fun no matter what.
Compared to a Syty - it's hard to say. I didn't buy mine for 1/4 runs. It's quick, and seat of the pants says a touch quicker than a stock syty. The syty is easier to launch, but the times are similar, and much more driver dependent in the Sti. The syty is fun and cheap compared to an Sti or Evo, but there are about a dozen things that a new Sti offers that can't be obtained (or can't be had easily or cheaply I should say): a useable rear seat (Ty's are somewhat useable tho) - fuel economy (I get about 19-22mpg in the Sti) - a warranty - durability & reliability - better autox'er. Technology is up to date - I have a coil on plug ignition with iridium plugs - LSD front & rear diffs - driver controlled center diff - 6 spd tranny with triple synchros on a couple gears.. yada yada yada.
So, at the drag strip, stock to stock, it's mainly going to be a battle between drivers. Perfect driver in both, the Sti wins by a tick 7 of 10 times IMO.
Go autocross, and Sti wins by 5 seconds on a 60 second course
After having both, stock to stock, I have more fun in an Sti. If I was going to build up and drag race something in the low 12 and faster range... I'd do it with a Syty. Cheaper to do, easier to race. If there was an '05 or '06 Syty available... I'd really have to go take a test drive of that vehicle

It's about the same for me, other than the few autocross sessions I've done.
Fastest 1/4 i've heard of for an Sti was in the 9's by some guy in Puerto Rico. It was a real deal Sti too, not some RWD Subaru based car called an Sti. I believe it did 9s on the stock shortblock even (I could be wrong here). I had video of it somewhere. Violent launch & shifts, but it was fast.

I'm not some biased STi owner bashing syty's. I haven't legally driven my typhoon in over 3 years, and would still like it the most of any vehicle i currently or have ever had.

the way things are going i doubt your truck, unless you have an extremely low mileage sy, will increase to $30K.

well there's always the option of 90%(or more) of all sy/tys getting wrecked and sent to the salvage yard, then a high mile sy/ty might be worth something :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

This was a prototype truck running a 20g turbo if my memory serves me well.
Btw, I've personally witnessed a bone stock Sy run both 13.9 and then a 13.5 at Sacramento Raceway back in the day. The 13.5 run was done with a can of NOS Octane booster, so obviously there was more timing advance.
My best bone stock run was 13.7@98 . My best run with the stock motor and ECM was 13.3@100
Remember, a trained chimp can drive a Syclone fast. So IMO, it is much easier to drive a Sy to a good 0-60 time than a manual turbo car. Can't beat awd+turbo+auto+big torque for fast 0-60 times
