more info about boring out your stock throttle body?

The throttle body was modified by Matt Blum. He used to have a e-bay store. His e-mail address is mjb_machine@yahoo. com.

If I pulled my engine in my driveway the neighbors would freak out. You are so lucky and that truck looks awesome, can't wait to see it when it runs. Thanks for the great post!

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS SEPT 21st

Hey guys, I worked on the motor a little more today. I buttoned up the oil pan (with stainless socket head cap bolts) and installed a lokar stainless braided dip stick. Here are some teaser pics of the new mill. More to follow shortly, enjoy:D

Dip stick installed:

Right side up (I will replace the intake bolts soon with some stainless bling, bling):

Looks good.
Looks like you're going to finish yours before I get mine done.

You know on the timing pointer, you can ditch the washers you have behind it if you file a radius on the inside edge where the pointer hits on the timing cover. That's how I did mine.

I forget, on the Brodie's can you run stock exhaust manifolds?

It appears that his Brodix have straight spark plugs. I bet that makes them compatible with stock manifolds. Most (95%+ in my experience) Chevy V6 aluminum heads have angle plugs which don't work with stock manifolds.

Thanks, I would have filed the backside but i cut .25" off the back to bring it closer to the cover and my pops machined me some aluminum standoffs. So we just stuck with it. I think you can run stock manifolds with the straight plugs, but i got a set of headers from Mike Lee. Now its time to mock them up:tup:

Thanks Tooky, stay tuned more to come soon.

Pretty cool, Paul. Has that engine been run? I see soot / carbon in the exhaust ports. I'm back in town for awhile. Call if you need anything.

Hey Dave, Thanks. Yes the motors previous owner did break it in and started tuning it until he turned the truck into a show truck. It looks brand new on the inside. I think its a winner.

It looks awesome. All of it is incredibly nice. Now you will need only one thing more than any. PATIENCE. Ask me how I know. May that nice SY exceed your expectations.

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS October 3rd

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS October 3rd

Well, I mocked up most of the motor so i can see how everything fits and oh man, its going to be close with the 72 and A/C.

The accessory brackets were bead blasted and then painted with eastwood gloss diamond clear (good to 350*). It left them with a wetish/grayish looking finish. I like the way they turned out. I brushed the brackets and figured out that i need to get a spray gun to do the rest, it will look more professional (no brush strokes or tiny bubbles)

I am going to do every piece of bead blasted/cast aluminum with the same stuff except for the compressor cover, valve covers, and upper intake which will get the gloss extreme diamond clear (good to 600*).

My headers are also close in a few places. The plug boot on #6 is extremely close to the primary and my water outlet from the waterpump runs right into the crossover?? Ill give Mike a call about this.

Here are the pics:

Next weekend i will start on the suspension/brakes/frame part of this project.

Stay tuned,

Excellent! Definitely close on that water pump and primary when I was at your house the other day. Hopefully we can figure something out.

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

Mine is very similar as far as clearances are concerned with ac. I dont have the header water pump issue since I have ported factory manifolds. You need to figure out what you are going to do to wrap or cover the downpipe and turbo now. Its not easy to cover them after. The turbo wraps are hard to get on later. The stainless custom covers that are being fabricated would be very easy to test fit now. Id install the wrap or cover as you install the turbo.

Looks very nice.
