Re: Syclone 934 Restoration

My guess is you work at a machine shop? Are the aluminum motor mounts 2-piece bolt together, or machined out of a solid chunk of aluminum? They are very nice. Can't wait to see what else you have in store.

Yes I own a machine shop with my brother, K&J Precision. I am also a certified TIG welder.

The upper mount is 1 piece billet 6061 T-6 Aluminum with nitronic 60 SS inserts for the bolt. The frame pads are 1 piece billet 4130 steel.

Next up I am going to make billet aluminum valve covers, sometime next month.

In the meantime I am porting the exhaust manifolds, welding and porting the upper intake and getting all the pulley brackets cleaned and painted.

Get all this done then the motor will be ready to put in the frame and then its on to putting the 4L80E in.

Everything looks great. Keep up the good work. When you put the 4L80E in will you be machining your own shaft and adaptor plate?

Yes I will make my own adapter (we are the manufacturer of the SOUT74 adapter). As a matter of fact, I have enough material I will be making an extra 3 adapters if someone needs one they will be available again soon.

No I am in the GP for the Mark Williams shaft, he is the expert for those parts.

Very nice! I'm sure there's plenty of interest in you motor mount setup. If you were to make sets available.

Re: Syclone 934 Restoration

Been awhile since I've had time to work on her, but got the exhaust and upper plenum ported and the front pulley assembly finished. And I have begun machining the valve covers.

Pulley assembly

Bead blasted, ported and painted the manifolds with VHT, The plug wires are temp, need to get straight boots.

Welded the upper plenum and blended

CNC ported

Bored out for a 58mm T-Body

Finished hand blending the ports, machined all surfaces flat and painted with VHT wrinkle plus.

And here is the beginning of one of the valve covers

Re: Syclone 934 Restoration

I'm curious to see how those valve covers turn out..!

Here is a computer rendition of what were thinking. Painted wrinkle plus black with the GMC Motorsports and ribs being raised and machined aluminum.

I might be interested in a set, if you're interested in making another. I'm very curious to see how they turn out!

Very nice work. I would be interested in a set of valve covers as well.

Finished my valve covers.

Machined and bead blasted ready for paint.

O-ringed for a Vortec rubber gasket.

Painted with VHT wrinkle plus and machined the top and bolt sealing surfaces.

Billet filler cap with O-Ring.

On the motor.

With the filler cap.

Re: Syclone 934 Restoration

A metal version of the Vortec covers (taller of course) wold be pretty sweet too.

So all this time and money and hard work and the stock brakes huh?
