i assume it's a 3in leaf?

Re: Syclone#1784

Very true, it did cross my mind. Decided to go with a bandaid fix for now. Paint is last on my Sy's rebuild list for now. I was just tired of looking at active rust everyday. It was the first thing to catch my eye, especially since the truck is slammed. Now the roof has been primered, sanded and is smooth as silk.
I need all new gaskets for the windows, front, back, doors anyway. A lot of sun damage. Figure I'll order all at once. Gotta put $$$ in the important places right now. :) I'm working on a tune and getting the LS1 brake setup from Acehaag. http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=65552 I can't wait to post some pics.

You're right though, probably still a small amount of rust under the gasket. I'll knock it out when the entire body gets stripped down for paint in about a year. This truck is going to require a lot of prep work anyway. I don't anticipate there being much more rust or enough time for the possible remaing rust to do any damage.

It would be nice to be able to get a few kills/suckers to pay for my paint :rotf:...that woudl certainly speed completion of the project up. WHile the truck looks like a hunk of junk people tend to have a little more confidence believing they are faster and take the bait. I just blasted my buddies bimmer last week. His jaw dropped when I flew by him like he was parked. Seemed even more satisfying to me with a lousy paint job for some reason.

Truck looks good, bro!

If you still need some rear rotors or a front, let me know I still got them.

Re: Syclone#1784

Thx man. I've got a few things here and there to keep workin on but it sbouldn't be long before the body work starts. I'm going to see about creating a custom bumper and hood/scoop modeled after the pic below. Think I'll keep my truck black....

Does anybody know where those rims were photochopped from?

Re: Syclone#1784

i think the truck looks sick as hell just the way it is, squished way down like that, maybe a black respray and keep it looking super fresh.

the wheels look really really good, they give it a different look. i know i'm not a fan of anything over 17's but i like those.
i haven't been able to find pics of em on any other cars though, maybe they are discontinued.

did you paint the belt system brackets?

on sy/ty is the belt system different then regular first gen 4.3? because i notice that my a/c pump bracket is on the passenger side, but you have nothing there.

looks soooooo clean under the hood, now never drive it and it won't ever get dirty or start any leaks:rotf:

X2 on that. It's your truck, but just a thought... if you go with the custom red truck pic idea (those are SRT-10 wheels BTW) Most people will think " I just got spanked by a modded V8, it can happen" when you could leave it the route your on now with the drop, wheels and black paint... and their like "I just got spanked by a V6 Syclone, I feel sick now" and more respect for our trucks prevails! Along with V8= it's expected power=cool, BUT V6 turbo=blow thier minds=very impressive  Just my :2cents:
BTW nice job on the cab repair!

Re: Syclone#1784

Have you adjusted your battle bars since this picture? If not they are not adjusted correctly. The polyurethane bump stop should be about .5" away from the leaf spring.

See ya,

ya, good eye Ski. They've been adjusted correctly since the install pic. Like you said, bout .5'' off the spring. I've got an inch shorter block installed now too.

Re: Syclone#1784

Cold air intake fits nicely. I will be powdercoating the 3' tube black. Filter is completely out of the eng.bay for max cool. Cobra elbow seems strong enough for support. Very little pipe used, so it's not heavy. Everything seems to be out of the way of rocks and road debris, steering and suspension, still above the lower bumper line. Real simple and cheap. I had been overthinking this, I was about to pay almost $300 for a custom job not much better!

Moates stuff installed, tested a few bins, good results. I haven't hooked my Wb02 into the ECM yet. Was busy trying to find some xtra ECM clips from the dealers (bring a large pic with u ) a capacitor, and the DB9 to stereo cable for the LC-1 cal.

I ordered the bluetooth option for the ostrich, but something is not right. Scott from Detroit Turbo is following up for me and Moates has yet to respond to an email i sent. :dunno: Anybody actually using bluetooth???
