Since my good buddy Harmon is enroute back home I am going to steal his thunder a bit.
Over the weekend him and myself installed a 10pt cage in his syclone. Being my 2nd cage (my ty being first), and my first 10 pt (my ty is just a roll bar) it was a lot of fun. We busted our ass for 3 days but I think the results will be well worth it. The only thing left that is planned to be added is swing out door bar, right now they are solid.
The NHRA rules were followed and should the need arise the cage should have no problem being certified.
And here is the trick of the trade in terms of how to weld the tops of the bars.
Somewhat hard to see and very hard to photgraph well but the cage is built VERY tight to the cab. Before the door bars were installed the cage did not protude into getting in/out and sitting in the truck at all.
All 6 points go through the body and are welded directly to the frame.
In total between the 2 of us, we spent about 40+ hrs just on the cage. Just to give a reference of the work involved.
I personally am very happy with it and hope it serves Harmon well in the near future. It was my personal drive on this one to see how far would would tuck the cage and "hide" it and I think we did very well.
