Re: Sy # 2047

Been a while since I've been on the site.......again.......but alteast I've made progress

I have quite a few pics i need to load off my camera to update, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Truck is nearly complete.

Fired it Thanksgiving morning, apparently the pan was never clearanced for the eagle rods so one was tapping the pan bottom. Pulled the front diff and pan, clearanced it and finished getting the pan on tonight and fired it again.

Runs nice n smooth, needs some tuning, crap throttle response but everything else seems to be just fine. Sounds great, nice n quiet just like I had hoped for!

Lots of little misc things to do before it's maiden voyage but IT RUNS and can move itself FINALLY!!!! No more pushing or having to pull it with the tractor.............dang thing is freakin heavy, not fun to push.

Only a year and 8 months since i started this project LOL

Re: Sy # 2047

dang it still haven't gotten my progress pics downloaded yet.

ran into some issues, had to replace all the steering components, go tthe pan taken care of and now i have the surging issue.

got the charge pipes all on yesterday, and brought her up to about 12 lbs, sounds real nice and i don't seem to be having any issues (yet) with pushing through the f-body brakes. i've decided to look into gear changes so that i can run stock c5 z06 tires all around on the 17-18's.

i gotta get some current underhood pics up. will be compiling a parts list soon ( probably tonight actually)

Re: Sy # 2047

so i've been trying to track down a running issue for quite sometime now but didn't really know which way to look. had a reputable guy come over on wed night and his scanner was saying the truck was reading the temp at 109* before we ever fired it up. after firing i can't remember if it stayed the same or went different again.

hopefully i can get him over tomorrow evening and we can ohm the wires the see if they are grounding out somewhere or if not then more than likely the ecu is bad. what a freakin run around......i just want to drive the damn thing already

Re: Sy # 2047

Well my guy got some time to do some checking and he is pretty certain he's isolated the issue to a bad ecu. He found another one that arrived today and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to plug'er in and see if that cures the isssue. This is good news, since the new toy I had bought a month or two ago is now down for a while, I need something to toy with.

FYI don't buy a turbocharged mustang that makes some decent power with a stock block, and an idiot engine builder, or you'll end up where I'm at now! Atleast GM 4 bolt main blocks aren't impossible to find and/or don't cost a million dollars!!

Re: Sy # 2047

Well, replaced the ecu and now have fuel control!!!!! YAY

however he downloaded the chip and it seems that it was set up for stock fuel press? But has 50 lbs injectors.

waiting to hear from our tuning guy to see what he thinks

Re: Sy # 2047

So unfortunately I didn't keep my camera with me while doing things so I missed a ton of in process pics for things I was building.

More to come as soon as I get the truck back.

Re: Sy # 2047

I think the z06's are staying for now but I have to make a decision if I'm going to run the extra tall tires on the front 17's or I may investigate a gear change so I can just buy stock vette tires

Did you happen to check what the weight difference was by swapping from drums to the discs? Its look ing real good, giving me some ideas on my Sy.

Re: Sy # 2047

put 30 miles on the truck today, while live tuning driveability.
first time its seen the road in over 8 years. need to burn the chip and it should be ready to hit the dyno.

Have a bunch of slop in the steering i need to pinpoint and correct. weird thing is, everything is new besides the gear box and tie rods and the alignment guy never mentioned anything was worn out or sloppy. has jeep steering shaft to.

But i need to get a BOV on it bad, suggestions on what to get? i don't care about it being loud, i'd actually prefer a quieter one if possible

Re: Sy # 2047

Adjust the steering box if the tie rods are tight. Someone put a new ZQ8 box in mine and it had tons of slop, tightened up real nice after I adjusted it.

Re: Sy # 2047

I have a few more pics to get loaded, but partial throttle is now fully tuned, and the truck is going to get aligned thurs. Then one more live partial throttle test/tune to make sure everything is where he wants it and then it's ready for the dyno.

All running and driving issues have been addressed, it is now registered and legal with plates and besides all that i need to get my deck and speakers in and it's ready to put some miles on it.

FINALLY after 2.5 yrs!!!
