belltech lowering springs are the same ride height as the stock syty rear springs. i had to replace mine because i had one break. so i know it works well with the beltech springs.

Re: suspension experiment

Is anyone else using this on a Typhoon?
I got my JS Coilovers on the front now and I'm ready to do something with the rear.
I bought Bobs 2.5" lowering blocks and I want to use QA1's in the rear also.

E hows the progress going on the 4 link?

Code what?
Re: suspension experiment

Wade im doing the front JS coil over's on the Sy and im going to be adding the coilovers to the belltech leafs in the rear with 1" blocks whenever i get the money to send Eric. I think it's going to handle very well, launch without squating and should be very responsive for a rear leaf setup.

E-Rue,

nice work man...
I'm interested in this setup..what exactly is required for installation? looks pretty much bolt-on or is welding required to reinforce the shock tower...

I assume there wont be clearance issues with the belltech sway bar.

let me know..

thanks

Re: suspension experiment

I am interested too. The ty bottoms out when there is anything in the back, so I was considering bringing this topic up again. Looks like I was beat to it.

I was wondering about fitment issues as well. I would be willing to try this out on my truck and report back if thats what is needed. Right now I am running drop blocks with the beltech rear sway bar from the last GP, kyb monomax shocks, and the stock exhaust. If someone is selling the parts, I am interested.

Re: suspension experiment

Is launching without squatting desirable? I spin my rear tires pretty easy and thought that without the weight transfer of squat it would only get worse.

Re: suspension experiment

Typhoon in particular squat when launched hard, because of the shorter wheel base. When they rock too much you can lose the traction of the front tires and when the front tires spins your losing the advantage of AWD.

Re: suspension experiment

Daves right about losing traction with the short wheelbase.
I put together some video of me at the track launching to analyze.
With the JS suspension and QA1’s. I hope to get rid of front end losing traction this summer.

Re: suspension experiment

theres no welding involved, you just have to remove the overload spring like my photos show. takes a couple hours to install.

we should have information in the next couple of weeks about compatibility of these coilover shocks and the rear suspension kit we are making. (would like for them to use the same shock so upgrades are possible)

Re: suspension experiment

E, couldnt you just spend a grand and get a full coilover rear suspension? (4link) If this is going to cost $500, and just add more #'s why not go all the way? Do you have plans for a full 4-link coilover rear suspension.

Re: suspension experiment

thats the plan..... have our full rear 4 link kit use the same parts so that people can upgrade later if they want to. (we are not sure its gonna work just yet tho)

Wade saw my runs in Michigan last year with the coilovers and QA1s on the front. It stays fairly flat coming out. (Check video below) I dial the QA1s in the front to 10 clicks (firm) and the QA1s to a two (soft) in the rear). E-Rue has the right idea as the Tys need to be a little stiffer in the rear so the weight can stay loaded longer on the rearend but not pull to front up.

My sixty foots were in the mid 1.5 range with hard nitto tires that don't hold well. I changed them out for some MT drag radials this year. Should be better.

Re: suspension experiment

i finally put all the parts together into a kit so people wouldnt have to fight to figure out all the part numbers they needed for a complete kit. also, we have done several of these where the overload springs werent removed and it works just as well. so you can skip that step on the install if you want to save yourself some headache. and iv been told by more than one customer, that the ATR exhaust will clear these on typhoons with a little minor adjusting.

comes with the shocks, springs, upper adapters, and custom lower bushings.

Re: suspension experiment

This is a direct replacement for stock shocks? Is that $500 for both PS and DS?

Re: suspension experiment

so when you do have a 4link set-up these will be compatible with it?
