Heading out today to work on them.

I can honestly say after this run be awhile before I do anything else for awhile except maybe get my own truck done.

Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe

It looks like things will start to ship on Monday.

Last night we got the o2 bungs welded, JSM tags on. Basically the top sections are done minus a couple SS ones.

They are going to end up 3 pieces for ease of install, you could weld the bottom 2 as one if you wanted though.

Be warned if your stock motor mount is old and sagging it may be near or be sitting on the frame.

I will get pictures of how to modify the turbo this weekend and post monday.

Sorry again for the delays.

I will email each person that is paid in full when their pipes ship. Probably be 2 or so a day until they are all shipped.

I can't wait (my dad is all excited to see his xmas gift too) I'll be sure to post up pics of the pair of pipes once they arrive.

Thanks for the hard work Jeff, hope you got a chance to have a little fun making them..

Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe

I took some pictures of a modified exhaust housing to take care of the new downpipe and better boost control.

This is how I do it, makes things work well, but as you can see you can't go back to stock dp after the modification.

Should be fairly easy to figure out. The pictures of the downpipe are old and are not of the ones being shipped later this week.

I used a 4" angle grinder with abrasive cutting blade to make the 2 cuts, tap with hammer and the pieces fell out. Followed up with a die grinder to smooth everything out. This is minimum I do, you can go a lot more if you want, just depends how long you want to spend on the end of the grinder.

That's alot of material to remove, I thought we were just removing the puck? Have you noticed any problems of any kind doing this Jeff, or anything else we should be aware of?

You can just remove the puck if you want.

Jeremy's truck is done just this way, and has been going for ~3 years now. I have done a couple others this way also.

If you do just remove puck you can go back to stock if you want. I just prefer to get everything out of the way in terms of better flow/boost control.

Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe

Sounds good enough for me.

You said eariler these are going to be in three pieces and you could weld the bottom two together.

Will it not go in if we just weld the whole thing together?

Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe

3 pieces will avoid removal of crossmember for install. I can surely make it just 2 pieces if someone wants though very easy, it actually saves me a bunch of work.

Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe

I'd rather have it two piece, I'd take it as one piece, it don't matter to me if the crossmember has to come out, that's no that big of a deal.

Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe

1 piece would be impossible to install without engine removal. Stocker is hard enough, 3" pipe would be worse.

Its a syty... your gonna have to pull it out at some point in the future. The sawzall cut will look much worse then jeff's joint will. Youd be marginally insane to want one thats 1 piece.
