Re: Stock Turbo 3" Downpipe
UPDATE 11/5: Yes they are taking longer than I hoped, but at the same time I am making sure the quality is not going to be an issue.
As I mentioned I have a buddy who has welded for 40 years + helping on the project, so him and I work on it as schedule work out. Friday we spent several hours and got all the mild steel top sections tacked, and several of the stainless upper sections tacked.
Monday we plan to tack some more stainless and start fully welding them up.
One word of caution I am noticing as I test fit, and develop all new tooling. The pipe is 3" and obviously bigger than the stocker. If you have bad motor mounts you could have some frame clearance issues in particular as the pipe goes underneath the #6 plug, and above the frame. My test fixture involves a complete front section of a frame, with engine, manifold and solid motor mount. In that setup I can slide my hand between the frame and the pipe. If you have a bad mount and the engine is slide down any that clearance will be reduced. I can't anticipate if your motor is sagging and dropped into the frame. Just be aware of that.
