I'll try to crawl under there tonight and let u know...

EDIT: Sorry, it got too dark...and I have to jack the truck up to get under it cause it sits so low

I'll measure it tomorrow after school when it is bright enough outside..

Wow it's a really hot day over here! Seems I've been really slacking when it comes to updating the thread so I thought I should probably bring everybody up to speed!

I've almost managed to completely take apart the front clip and tomorrow and friend and I are going to take out the radiator and support after we get off of work.

After I got to the point where I would have to start draining fluids, I decided to turn my attention to the interior and the other night managed to rip out the seats and center console.

I would've taken out the seatbelts as well but I don't have the right Torx screwdriver to remove them. That's also on the agenda for tomorrow.

But this is what really made me happy last night.

That's right.. the wheels finally came and my neighbor/les schwab manager came over with a truck last night while I was at work and mounted them. I have to say they look pretty frickin' awesome!

With my summer classs all taken care of all of my attention can go to dismantling the truck and working so that I'll hopefully have enough money to keep the project moving... even if it has to be at a snails pace!

Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this thread, but I'm long overdue so here goes....

After a really long night roughly a month ago my comrade and I were able to pick the engine and tranny out and put it on a roller

EngineTire.jpg

When dad saw it for the first time this morning he was flabbergasted at what I had done to my poor baby... He's getting a little better btw, still hasn't recovered the usage of his right arm

After several arguments with Qualafab over shop time and space, I've decided not to work with them and went with my second choice: Treasure Valley Rods and Restorations. I was really impressed with their work and they've already been really good to me. *Shop labor rates at 45/hour for starters* The guy who was in charge of my truck actually drives this so I was rather comfortable with him working on it.

The goal of this round was to do a tailgate shave, gas shave, and tailgate handle relocate and wheel tubs. And it all came out beautifully thanks to SuicideDoors.com and GrantKustoms.com.

The tailgate fit better than I could've ever expected. It sits perfectly flush with the rest of the bed.

And the wheel tubs are huge. I can't wait to drop the truck back down and tuck them babies!

WheelTubs.jpg

Not everything went w/o any problems though. In the process of mounting the bed, the guys found out that two of my frame pieces were jig welded at an angle and they couldn't even shimmy the bolt up there so they had to be cut and rewelded. A minor inconvenience but one that helped empty my pocket book nonetheless.

Another thing that they're worried about is the panhard bar knocking against the top of the pumpkin under hard launches. Definately something I'll have to watch. I'm sure it'll come around to bite me in the butt later.

Other than that, she's back home as of yesterday night and I've been keeping myself preoccupied with this little distraction. Two of the brake calipers froze up so I'm replacing all 4 and resurfacing the discs.

Hmm I see what you mean about the frame rails and the bed not lining up...sure hope mine lines up. I've already had problems with them welding a piece in the wrong spot on my frame.

Panhard bar may be interesting.....My dad and I were thinking the same thing acouple weeks ago. But when we just made sure to weld the housing bracket for the panhard bar at the correct angle then put acouple washers foralittle extra space. Even with my suspension as slammed as it is right now(frame set to 5 inches off ground) I have plenty of suspension travel. Have you put your rear suspension through full travel to see if the panhard bar hits?

EDIT....I just noticed that you have your panhard bar mounted on the other side of the housing bracket compared to mine. If you look at the pics in my thread you will see what I'm talking about. Try bolting the panhard bar to the other side of that bracket, it should improve your housing/panhard bar clearance.

Yeah, the tabs weren't bad to fix, it coulda been done at home if I had a welder, but I don't yet. *laughs*

I haven't gotten to test the suspension all the way up and down yet but it's something tha't I'll do soon whenever I get a whole day to myself to just test everything out. I might end up having to change over to double adjustables if I don't like it.

I'll make sure to check your thread and compare your pumpkin to mine, thanks taylor.

Thanks, since this is my first project, it's taking forever but I'm sure it'll be worth it. My dad's actually trying to convince me to lower the compression on the motor and put a large single turbo in, hahaha. I told him if he paid for it, then sure...
