Nice! lol, there's a Lowe's not too far from here, and the hats won't be refinished until about six o' clock tonight. Oh... and I stole a couple peeks at the truck and it looks amazing.. I'll take the pics tonight when I drop the parts back off.
Took me a second when you said that because it's 5:25 here, and I was thinking that if you guys are anything like me 35 minutes is never enough time to go buy parts :rotf:

Ok, so I snapped some quick pics of the truck this evening when I got out of school. They're not the best since it was getting a little dark, but I'm excited nonetheless.

All that's left to mount the discs and put the spare donuts on there so we can wheel it away! The wheels and tires are on their way/being made and should be here within a week!

Hopefully now I'll have some time to focus on my tests again.... :squint:

The rear's geared at 4.10, 35 Spline Axles, and it's retaining it's Posi. The shocks are Single Adjustable QA1 Coilovers. Thanks!

Oh, don't worry, it'll all get powdercoated sometime down the road after we've made adjustments to fit the engine. I'm really tempted to just yank the cab off considering all that's holding there are wiring harnesses, 4 bolts, and the steering shaft.

Pics are always welcome! Unfortunately I didn't get to help install it since I go to college, but I followed through with him a couple of times while he was building it, and he walked me through everything, including how to uninstall it without messing with the settings.

You might as well yank it now since you will have to do it to powder the frame

+1 .. although I didn't yank the cab on my GT I was about 20 minutes from it. Every time I'm under my Ty I'm so happy I did got the extra way to coat the frame, it stays so clean and shiny underneath it's amazing :D

It'll be a 4l80e once I get the money to buy one and build it up. We're actually also looking at a GearVendors gear splitter system which would probably split 2-4. We're not sure yet and still have to do a lot of research. That and a GearVendors unit is about 2K :(

4.10's good street gear, I have a set of 3.90's with a 33" tire. LOL can we say wicked mile an hour passes?

and on coating the frame do it, now its 300 bucks well spent i wish i wouldve gcoated my frame but I cant now since I have a cage all welded up Id have to cut my cab all up :rotf: so im just sand blasting mine in sections and paint with POR lots of thick heavy coat's should looke like powder coat when I finish up the from this weekend.

Re: Sonoma GT #737 Project Underway *UPDATED!*

Yep, I'm gonna be using the same...3.90's. 4.10's just seemed like too much gear on a street truck with an auto to me. Should be a pretty nasty launch with a 3400 stall and a KB blower though!

From the looks of it, my GT is gonna be the street car version of yours!
We need to finish both of em and do some magazine shoots...

Marty is kickin our asses in that area...:rotf:

But ya, on a more serious note....it would be so cool after they are finished to do a shoot with all the overhauled GT's from this site.

That frame is under my Ty... and I drive that as often as I can, so pretty much 3 season daily  .... but yeah, that is extreme. My GT has just POR-15 on the frame

The problem was, it looked so good I didn't want to put a body on it

I'll second that!

I wish I could get the frame torn down and painted sooner, but I have to wait till I have an engine so that I can make measurements for the engine crossmember. I'm debating whether to cut a chunk out of mine like you did super-gt or just have a custom one made... Which is also compounded upon by whether or not I should spend money on a stock engine if there's a possibility of me just tearing out all the internals anyways! *shrugs*

As per the truck right now, the next stage is all still in the air. Hopefully we can get the truck home by Tuesday night so that I can take the front clip apart and work on the cab. Other than that, the wheels and tires are still being made, and I now have an official line of credit at Les Schwab for $1,500. Hopefully now I can build up some credit!

Re: Sonoma GT #737 Project Underway *UPDATED!*

If you cut the stock crossmember...just do it how I did it. Cut a 90 degree angle into it but don't cut all the way down through it. I've seen a guy that cut it like I did except he just cut it straight through...it didn;t look to sturdy to me....pic for ya....(excuse my shoe)

LS1S-GTpics013.jpg

I've also seen another guy completely whack out the entire crossmember and just weld a large tub in as the cross member to give him more room...personally I'd rather just leave the majority of the stock crossmember there and notch it. Just giving ya some ideas.
