My Typhoon has been sitting in the garage for years and I am finally getting around to having the trans rebuilt so I can get rid of it. Are there any SYTY knowledgeable trans shops in Maryland, preferably the Baltimore area? Thanks,

Larry

I honestly dont know who to tell you to go to for that. I do my own trans stuff now.

You might call Andersons Performance and see who they recommend. They do a lot of Grand National stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd like to keep it local in case I have to plant a foot in someones ass. I'm sick of dealing with out of staters and all the associated problems when it comes to things like engine and trans work.

As far a Andersons, I wouldn't believe them if they said the sky was blue. I had a good friend lose 10's of thousands in shitty work there (which also proves you can't trust locals either, lol).

If I can't find a decent local I guess I will be forced to ship it. If I was keeping it I'd throw in a 80e (and a turbo LS swap).

Also, if you guys can recommend shops and give contact info or websites that would be great. I spend most of my time on other pursuits so throwing a name like "Waller" out really means nothing to me at this point.

Thanks again, I do appreaciate the responses.

Larry

Edit: Just to be clear, my truck has been garaged for roughly 4 years so I have been out of the scene for quite a while. Even while I was active with the truck I never explored trans options because I figured I wouldn't need it. That's why I would like to have company names and contact info if possible. After re-reading my post it seemed a little dickish. Sorry.

Is the truck stock? What's wrong with the trans?

My Dad ran an automotive shop for 32 years in Sykesville. He didn't have time to do auto trans work so he would send everyone to a shop down the street. They would be able to help u with repairs and freshening up Andy stand by their work.

LOL.

Have you ever heard of Six Speeds Inc or T56rebulds.com? Probably not because they went tits up and ****ed a ton of people out of money and hardware. I had the misfortune of being in the middle of that shit storm when it went down. So, yes, I am willing.

For the non peanut gallery,

Nothing is broken it just needs an overhaul. Apparently you shouldn't switch to synthetics after 90k of non-synth trans fluid and let it sit for several years. Oops.

Again, thanks for any recommendations.

Are u going to pull it yourself or looking to drive it to a shop? How big of a hurry you in? Just curious.

Sending u a pm.

Not in a huge hurry. Whether I remove the trans is dependant on price, distance, and available time.

Thanks everyone for the PMs and replies. Much light has been shed on who not to ship it to and who to check out locally. Just as an aside, has anyone had SYTY work peformed at A-1 Transmission Specialties in Pasadena? I had an Explorer trans worked there and it seemed OK but an AWD performance trans is a different animal. Thanks again,

Larry

I have a working SYTY trans out of my truck. I am looking for 300 bucks including converter. Could possibly meet somewhere in the middle, I am near Philly.
