I am down with the location moving, doesn't really matter to me, but I do like KC, track isnt the best but its in the middle of the country.

Only problem I have with Colorado would be the elevation, it would probablly take me the entire weekend just to get the carb tuned right.

All joking aside, I would be very happy to see the Nats stay in KC.
ditto

Everyone wants it in their backyard just for the conveneince.

KC is where it all started and deserves to stay there. :tup:

IMO if they are going to move the Nats, it would need a really good (positive) reason to move.

Well said. :tup:

Then theres always the idea of the Nats being on the west coast one year and the east coast the next. You can drive your SyTy one year and if its too far to drive the next just fly out ....more food for thought.

Nope. He said he was trying to make this years NATS, and that didn't happen. He'll be at NATS next year if at all possible, regaurdless of where it is.

But I would like NATS to be < 5 miles from my place :cool: .

And no, Bandimere isn't downhill, it just looks that way because the slow down stretch is uphill.

Re: Reasons for the Sy/Ty nationals to be in Colorado

I wonder what the attendence outcome would be if we organized regional meets in a similar fashion to the Nats. I know if we did a western meet (ie Vegas) there would be more trucks then this year at the Nats. If we did one in NJ area, there would be more trucks then this year at the Nats. Chitown, maybe the same....

The idea of being centrally located is a great one, and logistically makes sense. Being able to meet new people from different parts of the country is surely the major benefit. However with a majority of the bowtie builds being atleast 20+ hrs away from Kansas, the likely hood we will ever see more then 2-3 at the same event is pretty slim. The fact that it costs around $2-3k minimum in out of pocket expenses (fuel, hotel, registration, food, etc; not counting lost wages or time off) to show your truck off is a pretty tough one to swallow.

In any case, i plan to be there next year regardless of the location.

Re: Reasons for the Sy/Ty nationals to be in Colorado

Hi Mike...

I think the reasoning for not having regional events, is the following:
-not enough organizers to arrange hotel, track, agenda, and such;
-not enough attendance to pay for the hotel, track, agenda and such;
-most local SyTy events fail to draw attendees on a routine basis
-Nats committee doesnt have resources to assist (and it may take some of their members)

I think there are "pockets" where the SyTy`ers are more healthy (and have
faster trucks, support vendors, and vendor-customer-alliance, racing development, and such).
If the Nats Committe could "tap into" one of these pockets to have a Nationals,
and at the same time offer eating, drinking, socializing, autocrossing, cruising/touring,
magazine attention, caravaning, and backup activities in case of rainouts (like
Plant Tour, and/or Lectures) you would have a tremendous HIT.

But it would have to address several obstacles at this point:
-money/travel time for people like yourself who have a business to run
-payback/advantage to attend, for people like yourself who have a business to run
-lack of vendor support, media attention, and knowledge/parts for a 10+ year old truck
-and bad feelings over past events (which limit key builders/owners from attending).

So the KC Nationals is (to me) an outgrowth of not overcoming some of these problems,
meaning its convenient (with contacts already made); safe (since the agenda is proven);
fun (since it caters to socializing, and the hotel isnt bothered by noise/population),
and until the KCIR incident this year with tech inspections and laptop restriction,
racing "friendly" to non-racing trucks.

So, if the Nats were moved to MI or Bowling Green, at or around the Power Tour,
would you bring your vehicle?

-Larry
