Veteran S10 Owner
Please hear me out on this:
If you know of a local owner or person that you have sold or may be buying your truck, please inform them of this site and the http://www.sytyarchives.com/links/ . You have to admit, general knowledge of these trucks is not well known outside of the community and we could really guide these people in the right direction of info/experience they need to help them enjoy their new truck, maybe before they learn the hard way. I just read of two new owners with major issues which possibly could have been avoided had they known what's really going on with reality of these trucks. :dunno:
It almost seems like these people hear glory stories of "these trucks are so fast etc etc" then buy them, get excited and race everything, run it hard for their friends, and before 2 weeks has past, it's busted. I can't say I blame them for that but you know as well I do that MOST of these trucks can't take the constant punishment, like say..maybe a Camaro or Chevelle. . I strongly feel that the new owners could prevent some major truck issues with some syty education. (bent wheels, vacuum lines, purple wire, etc) If they know of this site, it may give them a great starting point to learn what they want or need to address on their truck.
I'm posting this in hopes of our new owners/members can really keep the excitement of ownership going, and that they too can have their fun at our events, and contribute to great post on the site, by realizing (with our help) what to and not to do with the trucks. I hope I didn't offend anyone, as it's not my intentions. I'm just a long time owner/enthusiast that would like to get a thought/idea that I had posted on here for consideration. The more trucks we have on the road, the more members we could have on here to contribute to a great site, and the positives go on from there....I'll end this post at that. You guys are great and keep up the great work, and let's make the best of this Forum for all the owners!
