Re: Project 92 Ty begins...

OK, so I haven't updated in a while. WIth a 5 month old, and work...
Anyways, I have been working a couple hours everynight.
Here are some pics. I will be painting it over the next couple of months. I want to learn to paint, so I am taking a class at the local community college for $200, and I will get to paint it!
I just finished a class on welding there, so I have been practicing A LOT before I weld the holes on teh roof.
The rust is nothing major. I actually will be cutting out the rust, and welding in a new patch, no big deal.
I just bought a used Hobart 140! Nice find!

Hey 2500avalanche, where did you get those caster rollers that fit underneath your tires? I've got a feeling I'll need those in the future. Thanks in advance.

My dad picked up some @ Harbor Freight., not to expensive.

THanks man! Yeah, I was going to do a coat of epoxy , followed by a coat of 2k. As for welding, I only have the rack holes and a 2"x5" section near the rear window to repair, no other rust on the vehicle!

Re: Project 92 Ty begins...

Ok,
Well, next week the truck will be leaving to go get body work and paint. I will take pics when it leaves and the progress.
It has been about 3 years in teh waiting. The main reasons are a new child, life, and a new addition to our house which meant I was out of my house for about 8 months.
I just sold the boat, so the money from that goes into the truck. The shop is going to have a quick turn around with it, so I should get it back in august, and then I will start putting the interior, windows, and other items back into it.
The motor just needs tuned, and the normal things to change when a vehicle sits.
I have been waiting for this, and at points I didnt think it would happen, but this is great!
Thanks to the community!

Glad to see you decided to keep it, and not let it go to become a parts truck

Good luck on the reconstruction! Any major changes while in paint prison, or are you keeping the red over gray?

Good luck with the rebuild. If you ever need to look at a (nearly) stock truck to figure out how something goes back together, let me know.

Ok, well after about 2 years... it is finally going to the body shop! Only thing going to change is they are going to weld the roof rack holes, and I have a ram air hood getting painted.
Thanks to Aeroking for helping me get it tuned.
Going factory red and argent. All being painted apart, and I will be putting the cladding/interior in it during the fall.
SHould be good times!
