This is one of the two versions of the new Ultimate II chip display...
This is a prototype that has been banged around a bit, and the picture quality isn't so hot so don't adjust you monitors. Notice the center red LED, this is a knock indicator. The unit is housed in a 2" gauge enclosure and will fit in all the 2" gauge pods. This gauge style will have a green LED, with larger alphanumerics than the original red LED display. The new Ultimates will have two pushbuttons, one to toggle up, and one down through the settings. There is also a "code" you can enter using these buttons to lock/unlock the setting without having to use an actual mechanical lock like the original. The other version will be in the same enclosure (radar detector size) as the old LED version, also with 2 buttons and knock indicator. There will be a new chip carrier also, and the gauge version will have a 8' heavy duty shielded cable.
These new displays were designed to be interchangeable with the old ones, although the knock indicator will not work without modification to the old carrier. These will be available as upgrades to the old units.
The outright price for these will be $395 for the "radar detector" size, and $415 for the gauge style. The intial upgrade price will be $150 (gauge) and $130 (radar). You'll need to send me your LCD or LED Ultimate chip for the conversion. There will be new versions of the software, versions 8&9. Version 8 will correspond to the old version 7, and 9 to 6. The software isn't finalized but some of the differences are:
1. Timing is lowered in all the T1 settings.
2. T2 timing in the 16, 17 and 18 psi settings will be the same as the old T1- 16, 17, 18 settings.
This change has two functions, it allows those with access to only 91 octane to run with less chance of detonation, and allows more settings to be used with pump gas in general. The new programs will be more "street" friendly, yet have all the popular strip settings when desired. The original Ultimate was geared more towards race only settings, leaving few options for the street. There will also be some boost code changes to speed up spooling on stock turbos, and fueling changes to cure rough/stumbling running when the engine is started both hot or cold.
The reason I posted this now is to inform you guys of what's coming, and to also get an idea of how many/which version of display you may be interested in upgrading to since I think this will probably drive the production numbers initially. In order to avoid delays once these have been officially released, I need to have an estimate of this initial demand. Just send me a quick private mail here to indicate your interest.
We're looking at a time line of about 2-3 weeks before these will be available, both software and hardware, please be patient for the first month or so as Im not geared up to make large quantities immediately. I should mention that those wanting the new software can upgrade that also for a nominal reprogramming fee, around $25.
