no wonder your stuff looks like it does.

The man doing this work is far better then a $15 and hour guy will ever be. Unless your guy is from china where the labor rate is really cheap

Re: Polishing a turd

Thanks for the kudos, especially all you other "lifetime owners" out there  ! You know who you are, even if your truck isn't on the road you still love it the same. Once you dedicate enough time into something, it truly becomes part of who you are. Even when my truck was broken for over two years, at no point did I EVER think about getting rid of it. Everytime I walked by it I always thought to myself "I have a syclone in the garage". It may not run, but I own one and am in good company  !

Wow $75 an hour to polish metal all day  ??? I'm in the wrong line of work :(. But then again, I do like having fingerprints. Everytime I have to help my coworker bench molds, I end up sanding them off. When I was finishing up the rims for his race car, I sanded the ends of my finger nails down to flesh and had to take a break. That kinda hurt.

BTW the "DIY" write up is well underway:

I got my previous EGR blockoff plate from the owner of this intake. As you can see, it didn't fit so good...

Started on it earlier in the week and have about 12 hours of sanding done so far. Hope to press the buffing wheels into service later this weekend. Fortunately the owner wants a satin finish. After I polish a few spots for the write up, I get to resand them...

Re: Polishing a turd

Thanks for the props  ! It took pretty much all day for me to get it back together due to an injury. I did a doozie on my hand a few weeks ago working on my daily driver. Had to replace the drivers side front brake line and the wrench slipped of the bolt that held the clamp that held the line to the frame. That resulted in my hand getting gashed open with rusty sheet metal :( . Being where the wound was at, it didn't want to heal thanks to mashing it back open everytime I had to grab something with my right hand. Which was pretty much unavoidable due to what I operate everyday at work:

It got to the point where I about to go and seek medical attention for it. The open wound was bad enough but everytime I put pressure on it, it felt like it felt when I did it in the first injured it. Fortunately, it has almost fully healed over the past few days so no trip to the hospital for me :) ! Now I can get back to that DIY write up that I started and didn't finish...
