Plug n Play ECU

Re: Plug n Play ECU

Ok thanks. I will keep my eye out in the next few weeks. Aside from the transmission install last main hurdle is the tune. I was faced with a pre.burnt chip that seemed like my truck never ran correctly. Next step would be try to learn code59, or have some one teach me. If this simplifys all that then I am thinking this may be the setup I am leaning towards.

We preload a base tune for a stock TY on each unit to get the vehicle up and running quickly. The system has an auto tune feature. Then you take control of tuner studio and tweak the system based on the goodies you have on your truck:

Re: Plug n Play ECU

For those interested Im elbows deep in tearing apart my Ty and will be using this system. My Ty was a basket case upon purchase (bad turbo, and seems like it was wrenched on by a 17 yr old for the last 10 years...) anyway I didnt wait for Tim's web sight, I went old school and sent him a genuine check! I already have alot of the parts in hand and will be going stage 2/3 and running E-85 with associated fuel system upgrades. Like most of you I went back and froth between Holley BS3 and this system, If any one has any questions feel free to PM me!

Hey Tim,we emailed about your unit.I've had some time to think more about what the long term upgrade would mean for the ty.There positive. But I have a couple of questions.First with such a great upgrade to the truck my worry is that even though it's plug and play with the factory harness. My harness is totally done. It's life span is over not to mention all the dead leads to abs and such..Any thought if I go in on your unit the harness can be addressed. That would make such an upgrade more feasible..thanks Thomas

That ones plastic BUT the mating surface/backside is metal, about 3/16" thick and overall it has some heft, and the hardware is captive, its a decent piece. You can get billet aluminum as well, but at a billet aluminum price:rotf:

Hi Thomas,

We certainly have the ability to produce new harnesses that are identical to the factory ones. I guess I would just need a complete harness as a template so we could reproduce this part...... hadn't ever considered this option until you bring it up now.

Some of you were asking about the Auto Tune feature, so I've highlighted it in red in the right hand corner:

Tried to send you a PM having issues with my inbox?

What I wanted to say was : I was looking to go over the software and start to see how the system works. I downloaded the link tuner studio and it wont open up on my laptop.

Just wanted to start to learn.

Did you download Tuner Studio Lite? What OS do you have on your pc?

Careful with using that cam sync. I also have the EFI connection sequential ignition stuff and they use an accel bottom end on the distributor. The pin broke and lost oil pressure causing engine failure. I upgraded to their new front timing chain cover that places the cam sensor in the front of the cover similar to an LS motor. I use an MSD plug in place of the dist.

We finally finished the tooling for the ecu box so it fits nicely in the stock location using the stock mounting bracket:

MotoCam360,

I have been checking your website for updates/availibity of the kits offered. Have not seen a drop down for any sy-ty ecu products. I looked thoroughly on your site. could not find any related products.

If you would like tosend me a msg of the PNP kits offered and what is included. only reason I'm asking is earlier in this thread I saw different things.. stage 1,2..3? a E85 setup, and distributorless.

Thanks.

We had to wrap up existing customer's builds and get them out the door, so website updates fell behind but the various packages should be up there soon. Here is an example of the wire harness kit we offer for Stage 2 with the crank sensor and distributorless ignition:

They are out in the wild! Im one of the people Tim was busy getting one ready for, Ive actually had mine for a few weeks now... Id love to show everyone pics of everything installed BUT Ive lost the use of my left hand for a bit... and with all this idle time Ive talked myself into what a good idea it would be to pull the motor this winter and after a casual conversation with the appropriations committee got the green light! Anyway if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me, I went stage... E85 and distributorless.

Id call USAA and have my Ty towed back to my house? First and foremost I have no doubt Tim would stand behind his product so Id send it back to get fixed? And I think the experience would be about the same no matter which ECM failed, factory or aftermarket. Next, since its based off the MS3 Pro I feel confident that if it fried for whatever reason getting it fixed wouldn't be a issue either via Tim or by someone familiar with MS3. As far as Tim/Motocam360 goes, Ive found He is a stand up guy, he delivered exactly what was promised, thats not something you often find in niche aftermarket parts. You bet I was a little nervous when I sent off the big check but I really liked what Tim was trying to do and wanted to step up and support one of the few people who are still trying to support Sy's & Ty's.

I should clarify that question was for Tim.

I got a stock ecm in a few hours at autozone a couple months ago. Thats probably the biggest plus to code59 or similar. I love the functionality of bs3, dominator, etc. But if something goes wrong I just hate waiting.

This is a very good question TYTILIDIE. In fact, it has come up a number of times with other members who are interested in our system, which leads me to believe that some of the equipment floating around in the market place has been less than reliable.

As drhyed mentioned earlier, the system is built around the MS3Pro, which is an off the shelf board so it's very easy to get replacements quickly. Since our solution is entirely plug n play, a replacement could be installed on the side of the road if needed in a matter of minutes.

We are tooled up with a supply of cases, circuit boards, and supplies to build entire systems so we will focus on having a few extra ecu units on the shelf to facilitate customers who are in a pinch. Since we are technically an electronic mfg of various automotive products, we are able to troubleshoot and repair MS3 pcbs with problems so we provide much more value and knowledge to the customer. We are not simply a SyTy enthusiast and we are not simply an electronic product mfg - we are both.

I saw it asked way back but can't find a definite answer. Will this run both low and high impedance? Obviously it'll run high because it works with stock, but do you have to do anything other than tune if you go with low impedance? Or just plug and tune?
