I thought unmarked cars cant pull you over?? He can yell at you but cant give out a ticket.???

Whether he's in a cruiser or on foot, in uniform or not, he's still a police officer. It's not a secret identity like Superman/Clark Kent.

When I was 15yrs old I learned a valuable formula:

(1) 1981 Caprice Diesel Station Wagon w/ bad engine
(1) 1978 Hurst/Olds 403cu/in engine from wrecked car
+ (1) 2mi long straightaway
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) 140mph in a 55 zone ticket

Thank God my dad was buddies w/ the man's boss.

How'd you ever stop that thing to get the ticket :rotf: ?

Nice Jimmy. :D

I dont rev, theres no point anymore. AND, if you dont rev they cant really get you for trying to street race as both of you didnt agree to do it. Just speeding. Or careless.

I would have launched hard right next to him though. That would of been funny to see his face.

I got pulled over by a undercover in a civic (older one, not riced out or anything..) one night in my Camaro. A mustang wanted to race me but I wasnt in the mood. I was just trying to get home fast. I was doing like 95 in a 55, and turned off onto another road, did like 65 in a 35.. a few min's later I see these little lights come flying up on me and then the blue lights come on.. I about shit my pants. lol.. long story short, he was having a good night and rather then writing me up for like 3-4 things he let me go. :)

And then he beat you in his personel vehicle at the track... and quite a few people laughed. :rotf:

Actually, I don't think I was home that day. I don't remember what I was doing, but I'll get out there next year. I'm still on the search for a giant helmet to fit over my huge skull.

You are getting some very bad information. They sure as hell can pull you over, and thinking they can't is not the best plan for staying on the happy side of the law.

So true. Years ago my friend was driving on the highway with his hopped up 5.0 Mustang and an off duty state trooper in a Ford Taurus SHO tried to race him. My friend obliged and beat him bad. After the race, the driver of the SHO whipped out a badge and motioned him to pull over. At the time their was news in the previous weeks about 3 or 4 people waving fake badges to pull cars over and then robbing cars. The SHO didn't have any police lights and followed him for a couple of miles (including going on and off the highway), so my friend didn't know what to do. He call his dad on his cell phone, his father told him to ignore him and get out of their. So my friend flew down the highway at 140-150mph. He went home 20 minutes later to find his father talking to 6 cops while waiting for him. He got off the charges because of the local new stories of impersonators and his father fortunately had already knew what happened...so the stories matched enough.

even if they couldnt I didnt want him to follow me if I didnt stop b/c then he just calls a marked car tells them im running and when I do stop they'd prob rip me out of the truck, slam me on the ground, write me lots of tickets, full cavity search, and then im off to spend the night with bubba in the county jail. So it kinda turned out better that I did.

The only problem with a offduty cop calling a onduty cop. Legally the onduty cop has to see what you are doing inorder to pull you over for it. If he didnt see it with his own eyes he's just speculating, and cant bust you for anything.

If an onduty cop calls another onduty cop, (say down the road to pull you over, and once again that cop didnt see what you were doing) and that cop that he called signs that ticket it can be thrown out of court very easily. The only way that ticket would stick is if the cop that caught you doing it came up after you were pulled over and he signed the ticket. (the witnessing officer) Thats how it is in Florida at least. Dont know about other states. :2cents:

In NJ I believe a cop is a cop is a cop; on duty or off; marked car, unmarked, or personal vehicle. I remember reading a recommendation urging Port Authority of NY and NJ officers not to write traffic tickets and parking tickets while off-duty. They always have the authority as sworn officers of the law, but the PAPD preferred that they save stuff like that for on-duty hours.

Yeah, back in the day in FL if you got zapped by a radar plane, you just take it to court and get off the hook since the guy in the plane wasn't the one giving you the ticket (of course if your still speeding after they call you in and get clocked by a land based cop your ****ed). This worked for me once on I95.

Is it legal to give points for non-moving violations (tinted liscence plate cover)?

State-by-state basis. Here in NJ it is legal for them to give you 2 points for an out of state no point ticket. I learned that one when the officer on the side of the road next to my truck informed me that his computer said I had double the points I thought were on my record.

Anyone know about Colorado? My wife got pulled over a few weeks back for tinted/smoked liscense plate covers, $116 fine, 3 points. WTF!

If that is how the race transpired, it is legally termed entrapment.....especially if the SHO was registered to the officer as his personal vehicle. A charge on those grounds won't stick.

Syntist

uhhh.... yeah....
Re: OMFG best comeback line EVER

that is ture on the entrapment thing. an unmarked car cant race you, they can egg you on then when you puch it they can pull right in behind you and pull you over.
