Oil Cooler Lines

My oil cooler lines are leaking pretty badly and I'm going to replace them when I do my oil change. Rockauto.com lists 2 different ones, does anyone know which part number is the one I need? Also this will be my first oil change on this truck what type of oil should I be using and what is the capacity?

Oil cooler lines. You you refering to the lines that go from the filter to the radiator which are the cooler lines. Or are you thinking of the lines that go between the block and the filter which are the ones that seem to start leaking when these trucks get older?

SyTyless......for now!
Re: Oil Cooler Lines

De-grease everything and verify where the leak is coming from. On mine, it was the $6 gasket between the lines and the block that began to leak, and almost killed my engine. Its a little louder now, but still running. From what I've seen, that's the leak point. Those lines aren't fun to replace, so verify the leak first.

Normal oil capacity with filter change is ~4.5 qts of full synthetic only!

Curious as to what you found with your ABS in this thread? Several peeps responded to your request for info. I spent over an hour writing my reply. Rather rude to never acknowledge, or follow up on a thread that requests help, and is given......

This is a small board. About 75 posts per day. Threads and replies don't 'get lost' in the volume. We try to help each other, including noobs. A little gratitude goes a long way....

I really appreciated your post. I actually printed it out so I can go over everything step by step. I just haven't responded as I had no new info to report. Ive been in pain from a kidney stone for the last 2 days and have taken a bunch of pain meds so my head isn't really straight to be working on troubleshooting. I'm just trying to forward my truck repairs best I can by ordering parts while I'm down.

Those are not the cooler lines. Those are the oil lines that go to the remote located oil filter. I may have a low milage set. I will check tomorrow.

Re: Oil Cooler Lines

Ok I give. Whats the trick to getting the filter to block lines changed? Ive unbolted the sandwich adapter and dropped the front diff enough to move it toward the drivers frame rail. I thought i could sneak it out one way or the other but cant get it to go anywhere from there. Looks like the diff has to drop down further but I cant seem to get at the nut that resides in the drivers frame rail. Any help?

Re: Oil Cooler Lines

Dont mean to hijack but anyone know the part number for the gasket on the block to the oil lines?

Re: Oil Cooler Lines

Depends. If it's o-ring style most parts stores will have them as a kit which covers the the line (block to filter) and adapter to block. Sorry don't have that number. The number I DO have is the kit for the non o-ring style seals.

EDIT o-ring kit should be GM # 15564870

Dorman Part No. 66201

BTW If you take out the wheel well, taking out the pair of lines block-to-filter is a semi piece of cake. Worth the time in my book. They need to twist down to come out and the wheel well is in the way.

Myself inlcuded.

I use a filter for a 2.2 4 banger S10. You kida have to get it in from the side above the front prop shaft, but it fits without hitting anything.

Same diameter as the 4.3 filter, but shorter.

Re: Oil Cooler Lines

Older thread, I know. But I'm working on my DD and need to replace the oil lines while it's on the lift. I found all the P/N's, but want to put them in one post. So I can find them easily next time. Here they are:

Oil hoses from block to filter adapter: Dorman 625-102 or GM 12472311
Oil hoses filter to radiator: GM 12472307
Seals for lines to adapter and filter stand. (3 places) Dorman 66-201 or GM 15701719 (Need 6. Come in a 10-pack)
Gasket kit, Lines adapter to block (1 o-ring, and 1 gasket) GM 88893989 (new number)

(Dorman does not make a hose set for a SyTy. Or a SoGT, for that matter)

There they are. All the oil lines and seals.

Are you sure about Dorman not making a hose set for the Sy? I believe the 625-102 is correct and will fit, I've used it. Or did I misunderstand?

See my thread for some pics:

I tried that "88893989" number at Rock auto, and it can't find the part. What is the old part #?I need to order that gasket kit (adaptor to block)
Thanks

Re: Oil Cooler Lines

Why not try the local dealership? It should be under $5
They have it at Summit.

Have you tried contacting Mike Hood? He may have them/be able to get them for you, also.

Rockauto shows Dorman PN 82560. Not sure if this will work, though.

on another note does this stuff go bad and start leaking that often? my truck is still apart right now and it's all accessible (more than when it is complete) but i'm not sure it's worth replacing since it all looks to be in decent shape?
