We're crossing are fingers in hopes that the motor and trans are going to work!
The valve covers were pulled off to make sure things were tight and discovered it had stock stamp steel rockers instead of the Jesel's that he paid for.....bummer!
Drop down this week if you get a chance.
Yeah...but when your told you payed for Je$el$ you should get them not factory style stamp steel rockers on a bar, that was more my point. The Jesels would of came with a rocker bar aswell, but a lot lighter and the roller tips will pick up power over any non roller tip rocker. Those are not your typical stamped steel rockers. They are the GM roller pedistal rockers similar to the LS rockers. I ran them on my AWD Ty well into the 10s. When I had my heads done at Flowtech they recommended these over the aftermarket rockers. They also open the valve sooner adding a touch more duration because of the longer rocker/stem contact than a roller nose after market rocker. I was convinced by the company that helped GM design them that a 1.5 ratio in these will out perform a 1.6 after market because of the design of the contact nose.
They put less weight on the valve train because they sit on a pedistal bar instead of sitting on the valve and spring assembly in the stud style application. Once adjusted correctly with the right push rod they don't have to be adjusted again even if you take the head off and replace it (provided you use the same thickness gasket).
Hands down the best valve setup for vortecs.

I am crossing my fingers that Stokes truly put this motor together and not someone else…

Is there a reason why he left the truck there for that long? For god sakes i had two kids, bought a house had many different cars and trucks in 10 years hahah. Wish the best on the truck looks clean.
Well thanks Mr. Brown for the explaination. I truley wish you the best of luck . It sounds like you now have the correct indivuduals assisting you so lets see some great photos and videos when it starts up and drives. If there is any assistance needed from the New York area please let me know.I would like to thank many who have offered assistance and comments.
Being a rather private individual, I rarely comment online anymore and avoid conflict
like the plague. Plus I still dont know if there is "light at the end of the tunnel".
I can answer VinnieTy's question,
and its a very good question....10 years...why?
1. Rockford was doing well, growing, moving into a larger shop,
getting high dollar customers (Tim Allen, etc).
Each change in personel, location, customers in queue
caused delay.
2. Part were being custom"developed" through prototyping
on other vehicles/customers. To make a part for me, the
first customer/part had to be tested and the second one built..
3. Large vendors were soliciting sponsorship (like autometer)
which caused the shop to travel and attend other events.
Sometimes getting direct contact was not always simple/easy.
4. I did not have the lump sum money to send to spend
months x shop rate + parts for the desired build. Granted,
some items like the 12 bolt moser was (now seen as)
overkill but sending thousands to get only a housing
(with parts backlogged, or needing more research) was convincing.
5. Not a large population of members have a running
bowtie, even-fire, large turbo, "e" tranny, custom ecm
wilwood braked, Typhoon that passes emissions
and runs daily (to copy from). Thus the uniqueness
with a vision of what it was suppose to look like, drive like
was is a bit unusual (ie show, go, and street).
6. And lastly, I trusted the owner/shop, sent x-mas gifts,
invited out to dinner, and called frequently (plus long
distance traveled) to communicate, not knowing the
outcome. The last two years I was in bad health.
...so, its easy to see in hindsight, not so obvious when
its happening . And while I take responsibilty for my stupidity,
some of the mods first tried were tossed as technology changed.
Blade of death, spal fans, chips, turbos, air foil, atr folding....are examples
Maybe others can learn from my mistakes. Sometimes shows like
Overhauling, or whatever, makes it seem an average-joe can have
a custom vehicle in one week and virtually low cost. Ask John
Gerber (or many others) the money, time and sorrow caused
by having parts vendors misrepresent themselves.
