NO KR with alky!

Finally, I am able to get my Ty running with 19psi of boost and zero kr while running ALKY. I had 1.5-3 deg total KR without the alky and thought, let's try and see what the alky will do? Zero KR! Bout time!!!

I just put some iridium NKG ur5's in gapped @ .026 and I was running a alky nozzle, 12gph that was too big. @ WOT @ 80mph, I would feel a flutter type surge and the truck was fighting it. I need a 10gph nozzle. I put my 7 gph nozzle in and turned on the alky @ 7psi instead of 14psi and she runs great! I will get the larger nozzle but for now, she runs well!:D

Now What? How in the heck do I squeeze the power out of my ty? I"m running total of 15deg timing in upper map values of 180-240ish. The area of KR I was having issues with was this area of 180-240 Kpa @ 3000-4400rpms. My AFR is 10.5 with the alky, 10.9-11.2 without alky....Which is where I was told I shoud be from a few top notch guys here:D:tup:

Need a little direction of where to start from here,

Thank you all:tup:

Re: NO KR with alky!

Will do, Treymen, will either have to meet @ the track or my place in Lacey...once I get some free time. Really busy till late summer, new job and all.

but my question is ...NOW WHAT???

What do I need to do to make more power, add timming? if so Where?? More boost, that's easy, then pull KR by keeping my AFR's in the 10.5 range per Nolan, that's with alky.

Anyone?

Re: NO KR with alky!

Start adding some timing up in those higher rpm/kpa ranges Craig.... it should wake it up pretty substantially. See if you can move it up a few degrees at a time until you get up around 20 or 21 degrees of advance.

Re: NO KR with alky!

im gonna guess, but if you have no knock, go with more timing. at a certain point you will max out with psi. so go with more timing.

someone step in that knows something.

Re: NO KR with alky!

I haven't been able to do any tuning lately because of the weather but...

Question: where are you getting your nozzles? I may need to reduce size as well.

I'm NFG at tuning but there is this little dance we do between boost, timing, alky and fuel. Pull fuel, add fuel, more/less timing, alky and boost, there's a sweet spot there somewhere. But don't look at me I have wing nuts on my motor mounts.

Reminds me of this when I built the alky system for my truck in 2007

A few years back on the dyno, I made about 60hp gain @ 18psi, by upping the timing from 15 degrees to 18 degrees using alky...
