Where I disagree with sean is that while the editors may not always have free-reign to pick and choose content on a majority of the pages... due to pushing by the greedy adverstisers and ad-department, the editors do have the choice to do "research" as any "good" journalist would do... that is a choice they do have... whether an editor or column head chooses to take the time to exercise their ability is all up to them

You can disagree - but how many magazines do you deal with on a monthly basis ? Check the cover of Sport Comact Car this month . Or the cover of Import Tuner magazine this month. Super Street ,Import Tuner , Turbo , Sport Compact Car , Road and Track , Car and Driver , Motor Trend , HCI magazine , Modified Magazine , Street Racing Magazine .

The editors can go after the articles they want - but still - they get pressures from their advertisers.

MotoRex is an advertiser in Turbo /SCC and we can call up our ad guy and tell him that we want him to cover a new product.... And by the same token we can say not to cover a competitors product - especially if the competitor is not an advertiser. They can chose to do whatever they want - but maybe next month we will advertise in Super Street instead....

Hate to break it to you - but its that business thing.. Money talks.

The consumers buy the product to see and get the information - and in some cases to read the advertisements. Ad sales mean more pages for content. The more ad pages a month - the more pages for content. The more issues sold - the more expensive the advertising is.

GMHTP has already covered a 10 second Syclone. It was Guys truck. It was on the cover. Guy was Kenne Bell Sponsored... Whats different about Peters truck ? Plus I think Peter may not have had that great of an attitude...between choosing Peter or someone else - I may have chosen someone else. Who really cares if he has another 10 second truck ?

When Jeff Koch was at Hot Rod magazine - I asked him to cover a Sy or Ty. He could not even show it to the editors unless it was "quick" and it had to be "brightly colored , not black ".

How big of a percentage of GMHTP readers are Syclone/Typhoon owners ? How many are GN people ? How many have other GM stuff?

Think about it.

Honestly I agree with everything you just said... or have said before on multiple ocassions.. I understand how the biz works... the cost of quality paper, inking, etc... amount of pages.. all are covered or directly proportional to the amount of ad revenue... it never ends.. either a magazine grows indifinitely based on circulation and ads or it doesn't.. In the end it's about the vehicle base out in the population, what they drive, and the advertisers that cater to them that makes magazine sales... I know sean.. can I take off the dunce cap now. hehe :)

Mainly what I was commenting on was directly related to was the statement/response made by GMHTP's Ray T. Bohacz to the write in typhoon owner asking for assistance regarding a reliable rebuild...
Then Jim claiming that they don't research any developments regarding upgrades in the Internet community... rather they'd just hype the vendor whom they have no idea what parts will accomplish... I think this is a poor idea when it comes to our trucks.. Especially since the addition of parts to our turbocharged motors aren't always that forgiving... Kenne Bell doesn't even do engine rebuilds from what I know and some of the parts Kenne Bell offered have either been discontinued or better parts have been available by other vendors or means....

The reason I guess I'm disapointed regarding GMHTP is because on one end you have Jim who appears as if he has a vested interest in this community and seeing some syty coverage in the magazine yet as in the case with peter humblias; who had one of the fastest stock block syclones, they weren't interested... Granted I don't know what actually took place between GMHTP and peter, and I understand what you're saying about already covering a 10 sec sy, but why is it that one person says they want to cover syty's while the others say no?!? ... SyTy's may be a niche market, but it seems like trying to make an offer with your hands tied..

Anyways... Everyone have some fun at NATS!!! Wish I could be there.. :(
