In all honesty...the kids name is Brian and he is a really nice guy... just a bit misinformed.

The way it started out was he actually called me (or ians truck, whatever) out first. As Ian mentioned, I mosied on over there to see if he was interested in selling the Prelude, since Im in the market. It was, but to rich for my blood. He started telling me how fast it was, etc and I mentioned that Ian had a pretty quick truck in his garage, and im sure hes seen it.

Instantly, he gave me the whatever and that he could outrun a truck and alot faster than it.



Ok. Stop for a moment.

Anyone who knows me and has been around me when near or among SyTys knows that when Im called out or your gonna talk a big game, Im gonna bring the sh!t to the table and set up a race right there on the spot...especially when the person talking game is clueless to what SyTys are. Something in me snaps...dunno, but if I know i got the race in the bag, Im gonna start in with big talk right back. Ian is pretty used to it now... he comes to expect it when Im around and we go out and about. Gary as well....

PowerTour, local meets, local streetracing....doesnt take much to set me off. Anyone remember the ChiTown Nats race for $200 between Kris's Sy and the local Eclipse? Yah, my big mouth started that one on the back of Morgans tailgate while driving around.


Anyways....



So I ask him since to confirm what I just heard him say and made sure I heard right. I asked if he really thinks he can beat Ians truck.

"Man, its a truck... that isnt fast, I got that thing..."


Alright... $1000, straight up right now that the truck will beat your Prelude. No, make it $2000 cash, I'll go inside and get it now. F it.... I got 5g's right now cash that the truck takes your Prelude...

"Man, I aint got that kinda money..."


Alright.... I like your Prelude and im in the market... the truck wins, I take the Prelude off your hands.

"No way...no titles.... how about $100?"


100? Make it 300.

"Nah, 100...thats what I got..."


Make it 200, I spot you the 100 and you'll just owe Ian.....


"If I had the money, I would... I got 100"


By this time, I start to come clean.... I know its Ians neighbor and the last thing I need is to cause a problem. I go ahead and tell him its a Syclone, 350HP, AWD, its a mid 12 sec truck, timeslip to prove it. Usually, most talkers come around and start realizing they are making a mistake and begin to back out. This guy doesnt. No way a truck can do that, I can beat it easily.

Alright...time to go get Ian. I figure since Im setting him and his truck up for a race, might as well tell him. :p


You saw what happened and the outcome.


Lesson learned.

I was there and saw it all go down. I even (foolishly) donated $ to the cause. That "race" was VERY UGLY and it was over after the 60' mark... There was video footage taken by several but the sy got spanked so bad, it will NEVER be seen. Which only goes to prove if you're going to go toe to toe with what one of the locals said was one of the quickest street cars on that side of chitown, you had better be running LOTS quicker than mid twelves...

Goes to show that in ChiTown, they add about 500 more feet to a quarter mile too. Very unfair race... I still to this day have no clue who the guys where in the GN that I rode with up to the end to have Kris pick me back up.

I did alot of smack talking on the way back home with the eclipse. Whatta b!tch. I wish I coulda gotten McCoys to bring their truck out to reclaim.

I rode out with Justin Vest and his dad in his typhoon. It seemed like it took half an hour to get to the "designated area" which was uphill. And after the outcome with a very stock looking white GSX, someone yelled "FIVE-O!" and everyone scattered. Mark C. was holding the money and was freaked out because he didn't get to hand over the moolah when it happened. As a result, he was afraid our trucks would get vandalized during the night for "nonpayment". Interesting night to say the least...

I'm gonna agree that this was one of the coolest stories I've seen in here in awhile. Way to turn them into believers. Although you settin up that race with the Sy and Eclipse and then having it get slaughtered is good times. :lol: Oh well.

By the time I got Ian outside... JaVTECMon was sitting in the car and was all jittery and jumping around all excited that he was about to pocket my $100. His leg must have been going 100mph.

Even still trying to come clean and be fair I said that he could start on dry pavement and I would wet down all 4 tires in a puddle of water for the Sy. Didnt faze him one bit.....

haha that's funny. i have a 2000 prelude and it's acceleration is horrible. my friend's 92 four door accord can beat me off the line. but yeah...rolling from 50 or 70 or something like that, it has some good go to it. when i first got it my friends were all asking me if it had vtech and stuff (i knew more about cars back then than they did) and i told them it did. they were like damn son that must be pretty fast. i said not really...the acceleration sucks.

i'd never race that thing against a sy/ty. that's pretty funny that he was going to take you up on that $100. good kill though.

We get alot of people around here that talk the shit untill they find out what were driving. The best is when im out with Parish in his Truck and you get some kid that dont have a clue and just spank the shit out of them. Then they pull every excuse in the book. But i love the stories like that. I just wish i could get my TY back togeather to have that experiance again.

Round 2 might be coming very soon....

I just picked up a 98 Prelude VTEC Si last night. Its got exhaust and a strut bar, the rest is stock. JaVTECMon has a clutch and is lowered. Seems like a fair race to me.

The only big difference is that I know how to drive, JaVTECMon is lacking a bit of skill in that category after watching Ian leave him behind.

I can wait to see how this one goes down. :tup:

DOHC, VTEC, all that crap. All stock except the exhaust...which I dont even think is namebrand, but doesnt sound like a swarm of hornets coming to attack, so thats fine. :lol:

Its silver, has 105k on it and walked away paying under blue book. Paint has some minor scuffs that will come out with some compound and some small little door pings smaller than dime size... pass fender has 2 shallow dents, nothing that couldnt be done with paintless dent removal. Rims have some scuffing, but no biggie to me.

Interior is pretty much near perfect expect for 2 small tiny snags and some minor scuffs in the leather headliner, big deal.

Typical wear and tear for the year and mileage. Engine runs strong as hell, pulls good for all its 200HP. Gave the TSX a run for its money on the way home barking 2nd and 3rd off a light and leaving the wife behind :tup:


Oh yeah.. its got custom blue vinyl chinese symbol stickers on the bottom of each fender. Thats HOT. I was gettin looks from mah posse and the integra/civic fools checkin mah ride. They know whats up, yo. VTEC, ya heard?!







Yeah, the chinese letters are coming off when I get outside and give this thing a wash and wax.

There's a Central FL Prelude meet coming up here in about 3 weeks. Im bringing my prelude, Ian is bringing the truck.

Ive already pre-warned those brave enough......this should be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Just an update...

JaVTECMon has warned me that in January, he will have NOS and a Supercharger installed and will be ready to go again.

We'll see.....
