I cant decide what I want to do here. I want my truck to stand out, I drive a ty and not a vette because no one else has one. I want it fast, I wanted low 11's which shouldnt be too hard at this point but high 10's would be more impressive. When someone looks under the hood of my truck I want the reaction to be "OH F#$%!!". I considered doing a V8 s10 again for fun because I like having a project at all times(dont ask why, i must have been dropped as a kid), but the ty is a much better looking truck and I can have two mediocre trucks or one all out machine. I like to be able to drive it on the street, weekends, to work or whatever but I have another vehicle for a daily.

So now I'm thinking of a few options:

Twin Turbo the V6 (not sure how much it can take before its not very streetable)

Leave the V6 single turbo and go big but that doesnt look as cool when you pop the hood

Twin turbo V8, this is what Id like to do if funds allow. More power without pushing the limits of the engine, and its always fun to see under the hood.
Concerns with a TT V8:
will it kill the value of my truck? It already has 130K miles, no ABS, no cruise, no AC, and see sig for the rest. Im not sure it will matter.
Will i make my truck handle worse? I know it adds weight to the front but Im hoping aluminum heads and coilover suspension will compensate for it.

If I go V8 then to fund it I would be selling my engine(manifolds, intake, turbo included), it has about 1K miles on the rebuild and has seen a max of 15psi, mostly it was driven to work and to one show. See my sig for the build, whats that worth?

eh...for me its not so much about looking nice under the hood, its about going fast...having a nice looking angine is secondary...id stay single turbo 6. Its been proven to get down in the 10's so why not

Truckless. For now.
Re: Need opinions

If you want the "#$%@" when you pop the hood... twin turbos

Looking under John's hood (Bullysyclone) and seeing two looks freakin awesome! It's also pretty unique... Lots of things are single turbo... not too many are twin turbo... and twin turbo V6 at that.

Ghettosled is twin....and my Typhoon wants to be Ghettosled when it grows up :rotf:

So yeah, twin gets my vote, but that's just my :2cents:

It's your truck... do what you want, cause that's what counts

Though a TT LSx would be killer too!

Ive considered it as one of the TTV8 options. It would have to be a mostly stock engine with different pistons so low boost until Id have the money for a stronger build. I dont think throwing a rod through an LS block would be too much fun

I have what I need to swap in a typical V8 except oil pan, I'd just need to do the turbo setup and intake. I even have a spare 350 laying around  Just need to make it a 4 bolt main and buy new rods/pistons/bearings/gaskets. Maybe a new cam. Id still use the syty ecm with maybe a painless TPI MAP harness. Thats what we are swapping my dads supercharged tpi engine to.

edited your poll and voted
HEY! This is my poll. You cant do that :rotf:

Single turbo V8 would save me some money and the only sacrifice would be the twin turbo look. Thats not a bad idea either. This little turbo would spool at idle with a V8

Why wasnt triple turbo on the poll ? I thought you wanted "the look."

Because triple would make it an unbalanced look. You need the same number on each side. 6 or 8 turbo should have been on the poll though

What the value value of you waller setup, its a drop in the bucket of what the fabrication costs will run you for a TT. A high power motor will also need the transmission to hold up to that power as well.

A 700 will not hold upto a twin turbo V8 and and is even stretching it for a 10 sec Ty.

Mirror what the auto industry has done because the buyer wanted a dual exhaust look on their vehicles......put you one BIG turbo on for BIG boost and another identical non-functioning turbo on the other side for looks and to impress the viewers.

Your right it does sound like a really bad idea. Im sure it will eventually break, I'll just launch easy for a while. When it does go I'll upgrade to the 4l80e. This trans is brand new though and just cost me $2300 so I'm gonna use it as long as I can so I can feel like I got my moneys worth :(

I would kick my own ass for doing that. Maybe I'll go N/A and just put that thing on my truck that makes the wooosh sound when I let out :rotf:

Nope, all I need to make up for more cost is more time. It will just take longer to finish is all
