Need help with numerous typhoon issues!

Re: Need help with numerous typhoon issues!

The memcal is the blue carrier that has the esc circuitry, ROM, limp mode programming. It is often called a 'chip'. The ultimate chip you have was bypassing the ROM and using a different its own source code and look up tables. The ultimate chip use the rest of circuit try of the memcal.

My experience is that injectors need about 30psi of fuel pressure. The 50# ultimate injectors programming asked for 40# of base fuel pressure this is about 30psi at idle. The couple time I fooled around lowering pressure the injector stopped firing reliable around 26-28psi. I am sure this number varies by injector type and tolerances. Most people set the base fuel pressure which done by disconnecting the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator.

Alright, but would that cause it to hit the fuel cut at some point at really low boost?

Is your ultimate chip for 50# injectors or stock injectors? Or another question would be does you truck have red & black injectors (stock) or gray & metal (50#)?

What is your base fuel pressure with the vacuum line off the regulator? you said your FP does not drop at boost, but it is increase at 1psi per 1psi of boost?

If you only have 19psi on prime it could be a fuel pressure regulator problem.

Is the FPR adjustable? i.e. does it have an adjusting screw in the middle?
When you remove the vacuum line to it, can you smell gas in it? If you can, the diaphragm has probably failed.
If the answer to the two questions above is no, it sounds like there is possibly another fuel delivery issue somewhere.

It has stock injectors, then: I tried adjusting the adjustment stud on the FPR, and got no feedback no matter how much I tried to adjust it. When it primes, it jumps immediately to 40psi, but then drops back down to 20 just as fast when the pumps turns off. I had my father hold the brakes while I tried to boost it from underwood to watch the gauge more closely, and the needle wags wildly when boost comes on, with the maximum point climbing to just under fifty and low as 40 at about 1-3psi boost. It intermittently cuts out still.

It's probably that then. It doesn't respond to adjustment, and it sat for ages. Where can I get a good one that will bolt up, if anywhere?

Okay, so I'll drop the tank and inspect the pump for possible issues. The filter is new so that ain't it.

If it is an Ultimate chip what setting is it set to maybe valet mode, when set to this setting it will limit the power your truck has.

How will I be able to tell? Is there a thread somewhere about the "ultimate" chip?i just bought a new FPR so hopefully that does something for the fuel pressure issue.

Re: Need help with numerous typhoon issues!

Is there another computer system that I can just plug in and it will let me actually tune it? Or do I have to just deal with this ultimate chip and make it try to work?

Yes you can get a laptop with an aldl cable and an emulator such as the ostrich and you can run what is called code59. It is an upgrade from the "58" code that the current chips run off of. Search on that
