Need Help Finding Info

I have a friend that wants to give me a set of heads for my truck. They are supposed to be aluminum bowtie heads, but I can't find anything on them. The casting number he gave me is 14011653. I would like to know what style heads they are and if they will work for my truck when I build my engine. Any info that you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Jason

I'm sure they'll work. But the question is what intake will work if they have been milled or anything? Have they been ported or any machining done to them at all? Come assembled? With rockers? What style rockers? Shaft mount, or do they accept regular roller style? If they are shaft, and don't come with them. Start saving money.

I have a set of 14044883's, and only know of ONE other person that has them and have to run spacers for a intake to fit them.

Might as well start saving up for RPM's headers now too if you get these, because you'll have to run them. Unless you get them at a awesome price, you might want to consider what you plan on running with your truck. If your planning on just doing a basic budget rebuild might want to pass on them. If your looking to make big power and run 10's, you get these you can add about another $3k to your rebuild price.

But if you get them at a great price I'd get them. If nothing else just to have them.

They are bare heads. He also tolf me that they have a 128 stamped on each side. He told me he set them up with a valve and protractor and they are conventional 23 degree heads. he also told me that the intake pushrod holes look to have been moved .2 in for intake runner flow. I was planning on running rpm headers anyways when I build the engine. But that is all the info that I have. By the way he wants to give me the heads. They are free.

Meaning they have offset valves? Or you mean that there was material added to the heads to enlarge the ports? Do you know if they are shaft mount rockers or stud?

Oh, and if they are free you'd be stupid not to just take them lol.

But like I said, bowtie stuff gets $$$ very fast if you don't plan out your build and know exactly what you want and what will work with the parts you've already bought.

Yeah I believe from what he explained to me that he had the ports moved back .2 inches and rewelded. I dont know if they are shaft mount rockers or studs. I am most likely going to take them though. If I get them I will take pics that way people can help me I guess. He did tell me that I may need to run offset rockers or valves. I can't remember. I will call him again and see.

Thanks.

Re: Need Help Finding Info

if the ports have been shifted you will likely need shaft mount rockers which Jesel doesnt even have stands for anymore.. You will have to buy SBC stands and cut and weld them together. Or T&D may have some.. Maybe even some offset lifters, so i would plan solid roller cam.

I'd like to make some shaft mount stands in the near future, but its not exactly at the top of my priority list to be perfectly honest.

How about when I get them I can send them to you if you would like to make some. Or could you make them for me.

I have a set of 14044883s. You don't have to run spacers if you have a 10093314 Pontiac/Brodix intake that is cut for a raised runner. It is the same intake as for an 18* 10134359 head. It just depends on how the ports are matched when machining them. The 883 heads like a Felpro 1268 intake gasket match and the 359heads like a Felpro 1203 gasket match, but depending on how one originally opens the ports they can interchange.

The problem most people have is that we buy already ported and modified used parts that may have been setup in differnet ways. This makes matching up used Bowtie parts difficult.

I am glad to hear you got your head/intake setup put together.

What's the difference between that daytona dash we talked about that took spacers for the 883's vs this brodix/Pontiac 10093314 intake?
