Re: NATS location

i defniately came off one sided whereas my point is basically, shoot, im willing to drive to nats, obviously, i have, and its amazing. Some people dont feel the same way, i just want there to be more of an oppertunity for others to feel less stressed about coming and stuff, have a good time and thats that. I live in LA, id drive to florida if thats where it was; an events an event, you love em or you dont, you come or you dont, i personally think its worth it.
My dumb opionion which was more a rant was i guess just saying if IF it were in vegas at some point, there be a lot to do, itd be a complete blast.. or somewhere else thats cool for that matter. iono <3 everyone/hate everyone

People, call NATS "clicky" meaning there are groups that go just to see each other and they stick together. Dont get me wrong, theyre all friendly and nice, BUT, they dont care if other people they didnt see the year prior and prior there, they just wanna see thier circle. To me thats cool, but thats not what a NATIONAL event is, its eveeryone not just a guaruntee that the sme 10 people will show up for a weekend of catching up...

In my opinion 99, and 2000 were VERY clicky as there were alot of people from each group.... and instead of stepping out of their comfort zones and being cool with everybody, they remained "clickish" :) Then again I was a 16-17 yr old NOOB in 99 that came to Nats with his wheels on backwards. THanks Wallmart.

The NATS isn't about the trucks anymore, it's about the people.

Re: NATS location

Oh BTW people, if you still want to fly or drive to KC for that weekend in September, Dabney and I will be hitting up his favorite spots.

TYRODD

My ass. Look at it.
Re: NATS location

IMHO, the trucks are whet have brought us together, to NATS if you will. But I can do the SYTY thing all day, looking at, working on, talking about my truck, etc. Nats is about US I think. Im not saying I dont love hanging around, drooling on, gazing upon some of these beautiful POS at nats, but at the end of the day Im there to hang out with some like minded people that I consider somewhat family. THATS what its about to me. #0231 may have had its last KC voyage last summer (driving at least), but I'll be there next time, even if Mike Renz is the only one there  :rotf:

If you dont want to drive to nats because you're stressed out..dont, look at my situation. I blew my tranny a couple weeks after nats...ouch, but it could have been worse. If you fly you'll still have a kick ass time

Re: NATS location

plain and simple, chicago had the greatest turnout......what year was that???

i said it before and i'll say it agian,...... team it up with the end of the hot rod power tour.
that way it is fair, and everybody gets a shot at it being local sometime.
icon_biggrin.gif

let me ask you all this.........?

how cool would it be if on the last days of the power tour, we rolled in 50-75 deep with a sy/ty/sogt caravan?? ............think about that.............?

you want to re-invigorate people to show interest???....... show up 50-75 deep, and tell me how many people come up to you from the power tour asking questions,....listening to your answers, and asking where to get one???

you want to stoke the fire under the value of these trucks????....... show up 50-75 deep

i gaurentee that with all the money floating around the power tour, at least one truck could be sold on the spot!!
Ok.gif
.......no problem.

you want the "aftermarket" to notice these trucks agian???? show up 50-75 deep at the power tour.

you want sy/ty.net and sy/ty nationals to get all the funding it deserves??? show up 50-75 deep at the power tour.....

besides,..it gives others the oppertunity to look at other cars too.......

in conclusion......what makes more of a statement??? 200+ corvettes showing up at a event like the power tour??

That would be pretty sweet.

are there 50 - 75 trucks that still run and could make it on a leg of the power tour? :rotf:

Re: NATS location

I'll go any where the NATS go but only if I can get the time off. Half the fun is the journey. But also if i have to drive over 24hrs eveny year I dont think I would be be able to make it to too many.

LET ME KNOW EXACTLY WHEN & WHERE THIS WILL BE,l live like 30 minutes north of KC, no ty but i'll be there w/ my blazer, to hang out, learn about these trucks,or what ever. nats last year was cool, never seen a sy/ty in person before that, still wish i could have stayed longer, or gotten a ride in one.

supersports10 is on to something or on something. Either way I like the way this guy thinks. Roll power tour with even just 30 trucks would make a huge statement for this group.

thanks for the vote of confidence!!

i just think we would get a much better turnout this way, and this way it is fair every year. :D

RENZ... this year it is in madison wi for both fri 6/13 and sat 6/14 this would be the perfect oppertunity to see if this would work. .....i know you were thinking of holding off on nats for this year, but i am willing to help out on planning, in any way i can! :D

i also have a garage with a lift, air tools, hand tools welder, for people that break thier trucks.

i was going to have one of my "wrench fests" soon, but helping to get this off the ground would be soo much better. ;)

i also believe that i have some local members that im almost sure would be willing to help also!!

sel777, gm turbo, tooky, hardtailcfl, gkler882??, just to name a few!!!

Re: NATS location

I didn't read the complete thread so if this is a repeat of someone post I am sorry.

The GN guys hashed this over for years and they choose Bowling Green. Obviously they though it was central to the majority of them.

The track is great, hotels are close and not expensive. There is just enough to do in the area without being distracted with all the local sights such as Chicago. I was at Chicago and it was great. But it's hard to want to cruise in the type of traffic there. We did a cruise in Bowling Green a few years back and it was fun messing with the locals. The track is open on Sunday also for those that would want to stay and race some more.

It is more central to the southern guys than Chicago.

there isn't going to be a NATS this year. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to organize and hold a regional meet yourself and try to infest the powertour with a nice showing of trucks.

ok all the name calling and useless posts were removed. Please keep the off topic banter to another thread. Fighting over the event isn't going to help it.

bowling green 4 me. Mom lives 1.5 hour from the track. The corvette manufacturing plant & museum is right next to the track.

Re: NATS location

I think that it should move yearly.

west Denver/Vegas
mid-west KC/Texas
East Chi-town/ATL

I can drive to Denver or vegas w no problem but I would probably miss KC/Tex and fly to Chicago or Atlanta because I could excuse it as "business"

Re: NATS location

Denver WOULD be perfect, BUT for the 5,000+ elevation.

It's so perfect that,if it wasn't for that, it would probably have already hosted Nats.

IF it's decided to have a gathering and not focus on the track, I would vote for it. Everyone who goes to Denver would have their worst 1/4 mile times, except the people from the Denver area. I still remember the Bully Syclone popping and cracking during it's run at Nats 06. Could the same thing happen to other peoples trucks? 5,000 feet is a big change.

I'm not crapping on Denver, I would like to go there(only ever been in the airport). I just don't see how to overcome that one big issue. If it's going to be in the west, I'd be thinking Phoenix, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, or somewhere in the SoCal area. Are there any elevation issues in those area?
