Man try driving 2000 miles one way. I have been to 3 NATs, 99, 00 and 07 (Flew to it). The other ones I didn't make it to because I either didn't have the time off work or others from WA didn't want to go. Didn't feel like driving by myself.
Where ever it goes I will go. Probably fly in if it is way out East but at least it will be happening

My personal opinion on being in or outside of a box is that the one box we should stay in is it being "US". I dont wnat to share a track with some other clubs or gatherings, that sounds like a cluster !@#$ waiting to happen. If it was going to be like that Ild just assume go down to the local hangout on Saturdays. Ild pay ( provided I was going ) extra to keep it just us.

Ok, Nats used to be week after US Nationals. Anyways. If we were to hold it in Indy. We would still get quite a few runs in if we run between rounds during a bracket race. They do this all the time for different groups. Usually mustang groups. They can even do a separate class just for the SyTy. But they would group everybody together. No stock, stock turbo, modified, etc. classes.
I kinda like the Chicago or Bowling Green ideas. For Chicago, what about Route 66? Probably expensive, but it's a really nice facility.

I can probably get a quote by the end of the day but I can tell you its going to be stupid expensive. I mean look how much it cost just to go TnT there.
Bowling Green is ok in my book, think I voted for that, chicago and KC.
To the people who talk about the power tour, where it might be a good idea on paper it will only end up being a cluster **** of people i think.

Bit pricey
What comes with that? Is there Tech? What about track prep. People who call the tacks for these quote need to get all this information.
If that is the price with no tech and a full prep then maybe not too bad of a deal.
I think I would go if it was on Colorado although I think the turnout would be much much less as you alienate the east coast people.
But my main concern is the elevation. I for one would not bring my truck to CO as I don't want to spend an entire weekend trying to get the tune right for the mile high air.

You only loose about 1/2 of a second up here, so you aren't THAT much slower. Also FYI to rent the AWD dyno facility up here for a day cost $500, including 3 employees. I could call on a hotel, but I think that is jumping the gun a little :tup:
The only reason we know the other two prices (track and dyno) is because I know people who have rented out both, and that is what their cost was. I'm waiting to hear back about what all the track price includes

Some locals did an event last year. It was Colorado Track Day
So I'm guessing full crew/track prep, as you have to pass tech. I'll ask Shawn about it and try to get all the details I can. :tup:

With as much luck as Ive had since last Nats, its prety safe to say I WONT be driving/bringing my truck again :lol: UNLESS it is held in Denver/Phoenix/Vegas/Farmington. Of course if it was held in Denver, it would be hugely unfair to the east coast guys. I think KC is an excellent location for Nats, and distance wise, I think I am one of the few who can have an opinion on that. Sure its far as HELL for me to drive, especially in a POS :rotf: , but I did it three years in a row...SUCK IT UP!

-or, like the vette or viper club, rent Indy for a couple of laps, and have access to the dragstrip as well.

they balanced show activities on the midway, and race activities on the track circling the midway).
Course it doesnt exist now...but you get the idea.

I have priced StL mutiple times for different events.
By the time you pay the track help, ambulance and buy your insurance you are nearing 10k for a private rental. I think the local F Body club did a day rental and it was still more than double what KCIR is.
FWIW, KCIR is $2500 with no ambulance and they haven't raised their price in the last 5 years.
I am all game to have it in St Louis, but it would require sharing hte track or even worse using it publicly like the S-Series Nats did.
and to be honest they didn't do much for racing and it was VERY unorganized.
They basically just made test n tune passes and then turned in their time slips to be eligible for the awards.
Then again they don't race classes, just faster 4 banger, fastest 6 banger, fastest V8.
Besides the roads and traffic in St L SUCK big time as any of the east coasters can tell you from passing through on the way to KC.
We won't even get into crime or carjackings. lol
Lets just say I don't leave my truck unattended ANYWHERE near the city.

I guess it depends on the area then. I stayed in the northwest corner of memphis one night on a trip back from TX and it was a very nice area and seemed safe, doesn't mean that is the same as where the track is located. As far as STL I have only driven through it on the highway and seen the track never once stopped since I never needed gas in that area.
