Re: Nats 2011!

I agree...... will get a better turn out if its central to all. :2cents:

I agree but I dont. It is nice to be in the center but the people that fly in form the coasts do deserve to get a chance to drive/take there to a nats:2cents:

haha....I was thinking the same. No matter where it is some people won't show up due to distance/$$ to get there. So to me actual Nats location each year doesn't really matter, as long as it is moved around it is fair to all. Six in one....half dozen in the other.

Re: Nats 2011!

Keep NATS in the midwest ( the center of the US ) ... keeps it open game for ANYONE.

Having it on one extreme ( n,s,e,w ) will keep a lot of us away ---

How many years was it in KC (the most central spot in the US basically) and no matter what, still everyone bitched from the extreme sides of east and west coast?

Its like Tony said, no matter the location, there will a group that whines about distance, money to get there, etc. Renz put up a poll with quite a few selections with the option to pick nothing and post up your own. The poll speaks for itself IMHO. The intention was to start moving the event around in efforts to give a chance to those who are otherwise are "to far" to attend.....and here we go...its the same dead horse you guys beat year after year after year after year after year......

Would I drive or trailer my truck to the west side? Hell no. Doesnt mean I wont fly in to be able to see some new people and get a chance to see some of the west coast trucks no one ever gets to see in person since they will have the opportunity to attend an event with a truck.

Agreed. Attendance was on a steady decline with Nats in KC, which is about as central as you can get... and it's still not exactly central to the guys any farther west than Denver (8 hour drive to KC). Any further west than Denver and it becomes a much more interesting drive for people.

We know that moving Nats around will change attendance figures and a lot of people may attend, just without trucks. But at least it will give new groups of members more reason to get together with their trucks, ie: out West, back East, South... wherever it ends up.

Eventually, Nats will be in "your" back yard and people can quit whining for a year.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Yeah KC is not central for us in nevada or cali a or anyone west of colorado true central place is like kansas. But i think if we could move it around like central west coast like NV or UT (even though ut is a def BROB state lol) central central us like kansas. central east coast like KC. Then everyone would get a chance to take their trucks to it.

KC is considered central because when you do look at a map, the only 2 other closest heavily populated cities are Denver or Wichita. If you split the difference between KC and Denver, there is nothing. You cant have the event with nothing.

A larger majority of SyTy owners...or I should say active owners live east coast, hence why KC makes more sense as the "central" location to have had the meet. It wasnt just a random choice when Nats began in 98....they actually had good reasoning.

Technically, no it is not right in the middle...but its close enough to be a central spot for most attending.

The geographical center of the contiguous 48 states is 200 miles from KC.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

ok so what do you think is more of the middle of the east coast looking at a map?

and no im not drunk

Kansas City is in the middle of the United States but it isn't anywhere close to the east coast (at least 1100 miles). I would say the middle of the east coast would be North Carolina or Virginia. Maybe you are talking about a location being in the middle of the eastern half on the United States. If so, thats why we chose Bowling Green, KY for Nats '09.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

ok back to the subject at hand a western nats for us on the west coast because for me to go to ky i would have to travel 1953.24 miles so if you take the us and split it in half from the west and east and look at what is in the middle of the west side UT is the most even but if some people would travel from the east denver might be cool but i wouldnt mind see what we might be able to see in reno

also FYI http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_exact_middle_of_the_US

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Everyone who is posting and so concerned with distance needs to remember... Nats 12 is next year, 2011. The reason we've moved it to every other year is to allow anyone who wants to attend time to save up the funds and plan for time off so it's not so big a financial burden.

If everyone starts saving up now, they shouldn't have any problem attending where ever Nats 12 is held.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

We did have the Nats in Great Bend, KS which is 100 miles closer to Lebanon, Kansas than KC is. Same people were there as there were at all the other Nats.

The two Nats with the biggest numbers have been Chicago and Bowling Green - both of which are further east...

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Its not a Western Nationals. Its Nationals in the West.

what ever you know what i mean yeah it is nationals but it should move around from east to west to be a Nationals not just the east coast or it would be just a eastern nationals and the poll is to find a place on the west coast to have a nats my mistake for typing western nats in stead a nats in the west

also this should explain how im thinking of what is east central, west central and the split from the weast coast to east coast.
