Re: Myclone poss forsale

I like the $100 raffle idea, but we should make sure Lisa is OK with that idea first. Also, the idea of the board approving the new owner would be out the window because who ever got picked would be the new owner. Unless it's understood that anyone who is at Nats AND puts in $100 would be acceptable. I don't know how you would set up the raffle, limit the number of tickets available or have no limits, only Nats attendees and you must be present to win? If it's open to everyone who puts in $100, you could end up with someone who doesn't really care about Sy/Ty's or Dave being the new owner.

One problem is that Nats is a long way off and she may need the money now. I don't have paypal but IF Renz is willing, I was thinking of sending in a $20 check or MO--whichever is perfered. I hate to volunteer Renz, but there are not that many people that I would trust to handle the money.

Oh, and the board approving of the new owner, is THAT ok with Lisa?

Sorry, just saw the part about 'any raffle will NOT be part of Nats', so ignore that part of my post.

Re: Myclone poss forsale

problem with the raffle is you would have to offer a "cash" prize in leiu of the truck IE 5k because that would be the taxed value of the prize if you dont the ""winner" would be on the hook for 20k in income to the state and feds

I am all about helping someone, but I think that you need to look at the legality of this. Yes, raffles (prizes) are taxed. I do know this for a fact. Also, several parties can be taced, the winner of the vehicle, the person who gets the raffle can not be taxed if it is a non-profit BUT, it is going to someone, so it will be heavily taxed. Also, in regards to the truck, a lawer would need to be hired to write up a contract so that she is not responsible of anything wrong witht he truck because it is a USED truck (not new).
I am just trying to help out by giving some info that I know.
I do not mean to be a downer, but I just dont want to see several people screwed from a great idea

I don't even know what to say......I didn't make the post looking for anything. God knows it has been hard. I would give everything that I have away to spend just one more hour with him. It will soon be two years and some how it doesn't feel any easier. Dave was my soulmate. I am doing the best I can without him.

Reading what you guys say about him, lets me know just how special of a husband I had.

I am willing to give some also. I think that we need to know what you would like lisa. we could do a raffel and then give the truck back and also the cash for the truck but that would require taxes. The best thing to do is just give donations because they are not taxable up to a certain amount.

Myclone (dave) was an insperation to me ever since i joined the board back in 02 i think but was learking since it was start after the mailing list.

I think we just need to have a poll or just let lisa decide on what would be best for her. I will donate some no matter what.

I still think the raffle is a good idea, pending Lisa's approval. Just make the winner pay the taxes on it. What's a few $k in taxes for a $100 Syclone??

Regaurdless, I'll be in for thowing some money her way (either by donation or raffle).

Lisa,

We all know you have to do what you have to do.
If its simply a money issue that can be resolved.
If you want the truck gone for memories sake we all are sure to understand.

You have something very special there and you should treat it so.
there are a lot of folks here that consider you family, Heather and I included, and while we do not want to see you hurting we want you to do whatever it takes to find peace and happiness in your life.

We all miss Dave tremendously and would give much much more to have him back.

I am down with whatever Lisa and Renz can come up with.
If it s a drop in the donation bucket or a secret society "raffle" then count me in.

Much Love Lisa,

Re: Myclone poss forsale

Although I am a noob and did not have the pleasure of knowing Myclone or Lisa, I would be happy to donate to help her out. I, personally, like the idea of all of us making a small donation directly to Lisa, and her keeping the vehicle. Just my :2cents:.

On a side note, if we were to give a large check, say 20k to Lisa, the bank will automatically contact the IRS for anything over $10k. So if raffling the vehicle is gonna be the action taken, then maybe we can come up with a way to get the funds to her in smaller checks and/or good ole cash. Lisa and the winner of the raffle, then, simply write up a bill of sale with a "sale price" on it. Then the new owner is responsible for the state taxes and fees that apply in their state.

sounds like the pay pal option is the best way to get around taxes....

You are wrong on that. I am a Branch Manager/Loan Officer and the only time we have to report to the IRS is when when you deposit more thank $10k. We have fill out a CTR (currency transaction report) but it has to be $10,000.01. Anytime you Deposit cash more thank $10k or receive cash for more than $10k then a CTR is required by federal law.

I dont know how it is up where lisa lives but you can give a gift of up to $12k IIRC a year to a single individual. But if everyone sends some money then it will be small donations to her most everyone will not report them on taxes so she will not have too either.

Nats raffle?

$100 per ticket...

200 tickets = $20k

I wanted to do this with my SS Cobalt on the cobalt forum. I had most of the mods support but in the end it did not work out. I think this forum would be different story. I always thought raffles would be a good idea. Someone wins a Syclone, and someone gets paid for the truck they wanted to sell.
