I'm not so much a religious man or had the pleasure to meet Dave but I know he must have been an extremely good man from all of the kind words that were spoken of him in Miami. I also know he must be smiling and extremely grateful of the support that you guys are giving to his loved one. It is awesome in like kind.

Hate to bring bad news, but even if you gave her $, it would be heavily taxed if it came from this site. Depending on how this site is (non profit, or?)

Up to 13k for 2009 isnt taxed as a gift.

Well if she had a paypal acct. and everyone sent here $ 20 through her Paypal Acct. how would anyone know how much money she had or spent on bills and such.

However it is decided to move forward, I am in for at least $20. Let her keep the truck. Then if she needs more funds in the future we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

If she still wants to sell the truck now I say we still have a fund raiser and find a proper buyer.

I've never heard of anyone paying taxes on the profits of a fund raising raffle...

That don't mean it's legal at $20K...

Lisa, I dont know you or Myclone but I can tell both of you must have had a great impact on the sy ty community. For members on this forum to go out on a limb an help you because of the impact Myclone made on these people is something special.
I will keep watching this thread and will possibly contribute to the cause. Im not sure if the board would approve of me owning this vehicle or my wife but I would contribute.

pretty sure there are rules for raffling a vehicle. And you'd probably have to cough up some big taxes on it too. Personally...i do not want to raffle the truck off at nationals. If as a community we'd like to hold a raffle, and Lisa would actually want to do it this way, then i will look into the legality of it and figure out how to make it happen for her/everyone. This will not be a Nationals related event though.

no raffles, renz will win it then the truck will turn into a 10 year project or test truck for renZ faB projects

j/k, although I think my accountant may frown on the 100$ price tag due to our budget. but whatever happens I'll find a way to make my contribution. IF i did win i would still let her keep the truck though

OOHHHH OK, I was hoping that was understood by all but just wanted to be sure. I personally think she is the only person who should be allowed to own that truck. unles of course she had other motives to sell it other than money.

You know guys if everyone says lets do this or that, we could just mail "X" amount to Lisa individually and then no taxes have to come into play. We could just keep a running total on a thread so everyone knows where she is at.

That would cost say $20.42 (if $20 is the magic number) probably cheaper then paying the tax :dunno:

you can give someone up to $10k a year and they don't have to pay taxes on it. It's a different story when there is a product "for sale/raffle"
