My 91 GMC of 13 years Stolen from front of house Atlanta GA

My Syclone was stolen sometime this week (6/20 to 6/26/2015) while I was out on vacation. No broken glass and keys still in kitchen. Steering column lock and Viper alarm secured. I believe it was towed from right in front of house.

Atlanta Police Department report filed last night and I don't know what else to do. They wouldn't even take a photo of it with them to look for it, guess murders and drugs more press ing than theft.

Anyways, as you all know, most irritating thing is all the man-hours and time spent getting the truck right and running and just plain old enjoying the truck. I hate this and its not a money thing as who knows what State Farm may only give me $3k for it when the dust settles and that'll take a while. So IF anyone hears or sees SY # 0901 on the classifieds or internet in coming days please please let me know and I'll forward info via my police report number. All body panels are original as is paint. Trying social media too via NEXT DOOR and my neighborhood to see if anybody has footage of tow truck or a camera feed from last week,

Last photos I have here about a year ago and would be same location of where it was sitting when taken last week,

Thanks again all, don't post often but this stinks, Peter Jensen

Posted up on the FB syty group to help out.

Roam the local shops and ask around. Keep your eyes on craigslist for parts. Those rims are unique.

If it comes to claiming with State Farm, they should know what a Syclone is. Don't settle until they do and you get true value for the truck.

As the victim of a Ty theft, I feel your pain mine.

Best advice I can give, put posts up wherever you can, including local car forums to atlanta and the surrounding area. Stick it on S10Forum and S10Forums, etc. Like Adam said, keep an eye out on craigslist in your area also. I see Adam already posted this to the FB group, so I will share from there as well.

When it comes time to fight the insurance company, well, start gathering facts now. Mine was recovered and insurance wanted to total it out, so wound up getting in a debate back and forth with them and wound up with a good settlement. If you'd like, reach out to me also as one of the things I do on a daily basis is fight insurance companies and the ACV's that they give to total loss vehicles.

Again, sorry to hear and I can empathize with you as I have been there myself.

Sorry to hear. That really sucks. I've had 2 cars/trucks involved with fighting insurance companies. One was a Ty that was in accident other was an m3 that was stolen years ago. In all likely hood if it was actually stolen with a tow truck they won't be joy riding it or trying to sell it. Either a part out or a parts swap on another chassis. If you do find it and it's the least bit banged up state farm is 99% likely to total it out especially if it has cladding damage. I would dig up as many receipts and/or documentation that you can find ASAP to help your cause. Bottom line is that if you had full coverage they have to replace it with like mileage truck or at least settle it out. That is if it's gone for more than 30 days. If it's found, I would argue with the insurance company for "diminished value" being that even if it's repairable, it still takes a hit on overall value of the truck being that a stolen report will now come up in a car fax. Check your policy and see if there are any provisions for diminished value claims. I have Allstate on all of my personal cars and also my business trucks on a commercial policy. They have since changed policies and do not cover any diminished value claims. That is why I've switched over to hagertys for cars or trucks that have special values such as engine work and or collectible status. Standard insurance companies for our trucks suck as many of them have fine print covering their asses against modifications and such. But I would definitely double check your policy and see what it says.

Yep its the hassle and the lost time of getting the truck as it was…piles of receipts and many of the items done by myself over the years. Like the Dutchey intercooler, radio, amps, wheels, engine mods, batteries, exhaust etc etc….Dont know what State Farm will do but so far took three transfers to get a human being that send to adjuster. Time will tell,

Excellent notes and thanks for posting to Facebook, I'll find it and share. And I'll add to S10 forum.

Sure enough Atlanta Police doesn't even want a photo just says call tow companies myself and if shows up abandoned I might be in luck, so not holding my breath there. Time will tell.

May have some parts for sale like old rims lol, what a mess,

Thanks all Pete

I was talking to an insurance chick, and she was "hey I saw that NOS fennder cladding piece cost you $500,that covers your deductible" "Do you have a receipt?"

I said "bitch I paid $500 for it,find me another one for less"

Silence.

Those look like e46 M3 wheels. Those would definitly be the first thing they would post up for sale on CL. And just like jimmy said, don't agree to whatever they want to settle for. If there was ever the right time for something shitty like this to happen it is now with the prices online for what syclones are listed up as on ebay and such. I wound up getting offered 18K for a 38K mile 850i years back and I just kept telling them no for over 5 weeks. They went from 18K all the way up to 29K. Just keep telling them you want the truck replaced and forward them over links to 5 or 6 syclones priced at 15k or higher. I know it sucks but your not dealing with a shitty small ins. carrier. They have the loot!

Thanks guys great advice and support. I'm realizing now after the shock has worn off I'm needing to hunker down for a fight with State Farm. It'll take a while.

The rims were OEM BMW M3 E46 wheels and a bit of money in the front tires being new Michelin Pilots. I'll dig up all the receipts. Then I believe I have several Paypal receipts for Dutchy Intercooler $400 and inlet cross tube $150. It all adds up with stereo equipment and amps.

I do believe my biggest stick will be online internet sales on Ebay and Autotrader. Then just hold out and wait. They will surely take their time so I will too…

Thanks everyone for the help :) Pete

A little late now, but that's why agreed value coverage on a vehicle like that is such a good idea. Then there should be no fight, or at least minimal, since they agreed to insure your vehicle for a given value. Hope it all works out for you.

What model tire and size did you put on?

Tires = Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45/18 Front (2) Near New and 255/40/18 Continental Rears (Older threads).

Staggered wheels with different offsets. OEM E46 BMW 18" wheels are 18X8" Front and 18X9" Rear.

Side note : BMW bolt pattern real close to ours on S10 just off 2 millimeters if I remember and no issues. Somewhere i've got a text file telling what the offsets are but it worked perfect for me and a good option without buying spacers, Pete

Nothing yet...still calling tow companies and canceled title and tag at tax commissioners office.... call from a APD detective and sent him a photo, fingers crossed. State Farm says they'll talk to me in 30 days, on hot standby. I haven't seen any thing on craigslist nor auto trader,

Hoping the best, Pete

That sucks. I hate thieves. Neighbors didn't see anything?
Too bad it wasn't blocked in your driveway by another car while you were on vacation.... Just that might've deterred them.

Dont give in. One of my good friends lost both of his prized Mustangs in a crash while they were being transported across the country. He had to hold out and get an appraisal on one of them to get the attention of the insurance, but he came out on top and walked away with a check for over 100k

If you have not already, you can check with local tow companies to see if they towed the truck. You can give them VIN and the address. I had to do that once to prove a customer dropped off a vehicle to my business.

Good catch my friend, thank you for keeping an eye open! It'll be interesting to know where in the world it went. Had to be someone who knew what it was and kept an eye on me. Typically it on a steep drive and got my super steering column lock when I leave even for a few days…kicking myself for going on vacation and ran short on time to park it in my "anti-theft" location, all it took was one time
