ive done some searching but im confused. I want to lower the back of my sy about 2 inches, and the front about 1 inch. I eventually want to do full coilovers but im 16 and not made of money hahaha so. Should i use 2 inch blocks in the back? and then what for the front?

Re: lowering my sy

Turn down the torsion bars for the front  Might take a couple tries to get them even...

Make sure you get the blocks with the wedge in them to keep the correct pinion angle's. ;)

If you can get lucky and find out where all the low rider trucks hang out in your town, you might be able to pick up a set for dirt cheap. That's how I got mine. $15 for a complete 2" drop kit was well worth it lol.

Remember to take your truck in for an alignment when your done with the lowering.

Make sure you wear a seatbelt... A lowered sy/ty will bounce you right out of the seat! Lol I would suggest beltech leafs in the rear as oopposed to blocks and shorten the front and rear bump stops to allow a little extra travel. I have a set of 1", 2", and 3" blocks sitting in my garage if your are interested. They are not wedged but I never had a problem with them. I just picked them up at Auto Zone for about 30 bucks. Took about an hour to install.

:rotf: What he said. Blocks and hitting the Bump stops make for a rough ride. The front ball joint binder in the stock suspension through its normal range of moition so lowering it just makes it worse. Coilovers with the correct ball joint angle and Belltech lowering spring will make for a much nicer ride, but the other way is much cheaper and will get you a lowered truck.

Re: lowering my sy

the belltech leafs are rated at a 3' drop but with our trucks you get about 2's so if you want to replace your rusty leafts and have a slightly better ride then blocks go with the belltech springs.

the blocks however is much cheaper and easier to install but eitherway you have to yank the wedge from your stock stuff and install it on the new springs or blocks to prevent any high speed vibs

that's what I thought, so it's custom or pie-cutting, unless anyone ever manages to see these things for sale.

Re: lowering my sy

I had my Ty lowered 3 inched in the back and I couldn't stand how it drove. It looked awesome, but it it rode on the bump stops and when I cut them down the axel tube hit the frame. I would stick with 2inch

Re: lowering my sy

some searching said that even with 2 inch blocks you hit the bump stops everytime with boost launches. I dont want to make it sound like a junker thats goin break when i launch. Is this true?

Re: lowering my sy

I have 2" drop leafs in the rear, 1/2 drop blocks and then the setback plates, looks good but a little on the stiff side.

i just want to lower the back 2 or 3 inches, without blowing cash, is it true that blocks make a bump stop noise on every boost launch?

Re: lowering my sy

my 3" drop = needs frame notch, which suicidedoors.com sells for pretty cheap, it's bolt on
either that or stiff shocks, if you have stock/crappy belltech shocks like me, you'll bottom out
