Re: megasquirt?
Speaking of BigStuff, I'll have to look around but I believe there are a few people using MegaSquirts to control electronic tranny's, both as a standalone and as part of the ecm. Have to dig around if anyone is interested, maybe I can find where I read it again.
The new ls1 ecm's (as well as plenty of other's I'm sure) have pretty cool knock anti-falsing. Basically, they allow adjusting how loud the knock has to be for it to count based on rpm so you can raise the minimum noise level at higher rpm to account for valvetrain noise increasing, as well as ignoring all sounds except those coming during the knock window of opportunity, so if the noise doesn't happen between a few degrees of TDC it will be ignored as knock couldn't really happen 80 degrees before TDC, and they'll also listen for changes in noise, using the past few revolutions as a baseline, if the noise changes suddenly then the ecm knows it's knock, if the change is gradual then it can assume it's increasing valvetrain noise.
Might be more to it but that's all I know.
