Re: Just installed Ultimate, no good?

I am having the same problems. Grounded myself out well even went as far as disconnecting the battery.....I am running a stock set up with 415 cam, 33# injectors, cat, stock turbo, stock pipe, 3 bar map sensor.....I had a hypertech chip in and it was running like sh*t too...but it did run......changed out the hypertech...put the STG ultimate chip in which is set for stock....my symptoms are exactly like Qwerty's....engine has a rough idle and when you step on the gas....it dies....check engine light stays on....messed with the boost controller a little bit but to no avail...then...I put the 2 bar map sensor in, and it would crank up.....but had a mysteriously high idle...and when I revved it a bit....the idle would stay high...and slowly go back down...but it wouldn't go lower than 2500 RPMs...
I got frustrated.....put the stock setup (just the EPPROM I think)in the computer without the hypertech or STG chips.......and put the 2 bar map sensor back in again......runs fine....engine light is off.......but I would prefer to have that Ultimate working for me...anyone have any suggestions or anywhere I could send the chip to be checked out?
Thanks.....

Constant CE light is ECM's "backup" mode.
Both sound like bad connections, or a fried ECM.
Check the pins in the bottom of the MEMCAL socket that you plug the piggyback board into... they like to get bent/folded over.
A backwards install (even for a few seconds) can smoke things.
Try the basics - 100% stock memcal, in the memcal socket. If it works, problem is with your aftermarket chip. If it doesn't, suspect ECM or bad wiring harness. Check both ECM fuses.
ECMs can be found in non-syty applications- '88 Quad 4 cars. Look for 1227749.
From Ludis' crossreference:
Description: 730 w/ one missing quad driver, w/ additional injector driver FET
Application: 1987-90 2.0 OHC L4 PFI turbo “M” LT3
1987-88 2.3 DOHC L4 PFI “D” LD2
1991-93 truck 4.3 V6 PFI turbo “Z” LB4
