Re: Just got in an accident with the SY ---

Well it's your call, but my offer stands.
I've been meaning to meet up with you eventually, you are only about 15 minutes from me.
What better reason for us to get together and meet and greet over some broken SyTy parts? lol
You buy, I'll fly!

Anyhow, that bumper support looks pretty twisted to be bent back into shape.
I have straightened a couple rear supports but none of them were that bad.
I'd call that one a goner.

The tabs on the fender are the mounting tabs off the fender cladding.
That fender arch should be fixable with some decent epoxy.
Remember whatever they bond/fill with needs to be flexible or its gonna crack later down the line.

When we did all my cladding I got some 2 part epoxy from a friend at Boeing.
It is the stuff they use to bond the carbon nose cone into the aluminum fuselage.
He put a lot of hours into fixing all the tabs and cracks in my cladding.
I think theres even a few popsicle sticks used as splints here n there.
Cladding repair sucks man.

Anyhow, just let me know if you need my help.
I've got your back man. ;)

Re: Just got in an accident with the SY ---

Is it just a sonoma bumper support, or is it syclone specific? ---

You didn't think you'd get that lucky, right?

The front and rear bumpers and supports are sy ty sgt specific...

OH GEEZ, so this is going to be the hard thing to score, lol. Do you have anyone you recommend I try and get it from? This sounds expensive :( hehehe.

Not even a pro body shop has the tools to straighten her huh? What a great learning experience though, I honestly feel closer to my truck than ever :p ---

the only tools to straighten it are hammer/body hammers.. maybe a vice..

good luck, its not easy..

however, they are expensive as hell to replace, if you can even find a metal one..

Your bumper support might be fixable as well. Can you grab a pic of it?

Its the first pic in post #60 ... look behind the support ... it looks like a caterpillar, but atleast it bent in v-shapes. Usually those are easy to pound out. They can be unbolted and then pounded into shape right? ---

Should be fixable, but the cost of fixing might be greater than the cost of a new one.

Re: Just got in an accident with the SY ---

Sorry to hear about your accident.
When searching for a fender find an original GM piece. An aftermarket piece will give fitment troubles. The CAPA certification is meaningless (Sorry Shuggs). When dealing with a body shop or repair person don't forget to figure in some $ to repair the door. When the door is painted make sure they take off the belt molding, the door handle and the door lock cylinder as well as the cladding. You do not want tape lines along the edges of these parts. Don't be suprised is a shop wants to charge to cover the vehicle for both the primer and refinishing stages along with tint to match, color sand and buff, mask/tape the jambs & edges, corrosion protection and other incidentals. They may also want to remove the door to access the front edge for repairs. You'll need to aim the lamps - both fogs and headlamps, need coolant and if your a/c is still there, freon (may want to convert to R134a since R12 is hard to come by and very expensive), pag oil and test dye. Might need an inner wheelhouse and the time to install including transfer all the bolted parts. It is a labor intensive job to do it right but worth the effort.
As far as opening the hood, don't pull to hard on the release lever, yes it will break. Try pushing down on the hood while someone pulls the lever. Might also try removing the grille and seeing if you can unbolt the hood latch from the hood underside (as a last resort - not too many hoods I cannot open with this type of damage.
Feel free to pm me with any body repair related questions.

Agreed. Thats why I said try used before aftermarket, but surely CAPA before crap. Nothing is better than the original. lol

Wow... That about looks like a parts truck. Unless you want to buy another Syclone to put it back together. Rebuild it and drop in a V8! Woot!
