Re: Intercooler
I have fooled with the water IC quite a bit, using a bunch of thermocouples and a data logger. For what it's worth.. I think hot wired pump is free and good, Rubber hose is cheap and good, I haven't been able to flow "too much" water as to reach the point of no gain when using stk pump<jabsco<sureflo<AMT brass pumps. Fan on lower unit is good (stuck in low speed traffic) Scoop on lower is cheap and good. I am able to get about the same result with an insulated upper unit and an ATR large unit all other things the same. The un-solveable problem with all of this is heat soak. Once you shut down for 15 minutes and restart, or boost a couple times in a row, you are soaked and screwed. the ATR doesn't soak as easy, but when it does, it's more hopeless, and it is bigger and closer to engine/downpipe and heavy so... You can make the water based ststem about twice as good as stock, or ice it and do even better, or go A/A shed some weight and have slightly better than all the above.
